Anyone get this on their tundra? I was told it was my heads that were actually messed up not the coil or spark plugs

Did they explain how they reached that conclusion? Loss of compression in cylinder number 5 could certainly be the cause of a P0305 misfire fault, but it’s only one of the possible causes.

If a compression test and / or leak down test was how they reached that conclusion, then they are probably right. It may be a broken valve spring…

On the other hand, if they changed the spark plug and coil pack, and jumped to that conclusion because that attempt didn’t fix the issue, you need another opinion.

    5.7L, 4.7L, or 4.0L?

    Appreciate the response. 4.7

they did a compression test and #5 was 100 less then the other ones. The leak down test will
    Be done tomorrow.

Well as of right now it’s getting new heads timing belt water pump the whole 9 yards. Mechanic suggested getting a new engine but I opted out on that suggestion.

What’s the quote on that? Sorry this happened - were they able to determine what failed in the 5 hole?

From what I’ve been told it was a leak/crack. They took them to get machined and or get new ones. Total estimate was approximately 3000$ give or take. Mechanic recommended to get them all redone (all 8) so it’s a good balance oppose to just getting #5 done.

UPDATE: ended up needing a new engine. The engine block was warped.

Seems like it. The guy I bought it from was under the impression it was just a simple misfire.
