Looking for the easy answer.

Does the tailgate for gen 1 fit across all models?

More specific tailgate from an 02 access cab to a 05 double cab? Both SR5.

Yep. All the beds and tailgates from gen 1 work across them all. I have a 04 double cab on my 2000 SR5 access cab. Can get the 3D printed bushings on instagram too (search the forums and will see his contact)

 

Access cab tailgates are shorter in height than a double cab tailgate. 4-5 inch difference

 

This was my understanding also. DC tailgate won't fit and is contoured differently. I just assumed I was wrong.

 

This guy in Dallas has an 05 DC tailgate for sale. Hopefully you aren’t in Hawaii!

 

Damn, I literally just saw a whole bed with tailgate yesterday, in green, no rust, for $300. I just tried digging it up again, can't seem to find it but I do recall it was in one of the Carolinas.

Speaking of, @abcinv I feel like you said you were hunting a color-matched cap for your DC. I found one in Raleigh/Durham if you're interested. It's less than $600 and in mint shape.
