I know that the idiot Gage on the dash used to be at 3/4 mark at 40k miles. Since then we have trailer-ed for several years and nearing 90k miles where the Gage shows 3/8. I know that these gauges are just are there for the grins. Should I check the actual oil pressure with a known Gage to see what is going on? Or say screw it and drive the hell out of it. When towing I generally run it in 4th gear at 3500-3800 rpm.....right on the power band. I keep up on the engine maintenance all the time. What I cannot see is how much wear on the bearings and oil pump wear has taken place. Lets be real.....i am running the sh*t out of it when towing all the time.

Pour a quart of ATF into the crankcase and drive it around the local streets for 20-30 minutes. Then give it a fresh filter and oil change with some 5w-30. The detergents in the ATF will help dissolve any varnish buildup. Might not help with pressure, but it will help clean things good.

I notice slightly increased pressure when running 15w40 in the summer, might be worth it to try a heavier oil if you're still running 0w20. There's no actual oil pressure sensor to see it with an OBD tool so you'd have to actually tap into an oil line

If you want to tap into the oil sending unit with a T fitting, Yotashop.com sells the fitting with the British pipe thread to match up and it has 1/8" NPT for the typical aftermarket pressure guage line on the middle leg.
