Thinking about swapping my Expedition for a Tundra limited or platinum. The owners manual says a weight distribution hitch is required over 5000 lbs. My jet boat is pushing 6500lbs all-in and has a surge brake trailer which is not compatible with weight distribution. Shorelander recommends 8% hitch weight which puts me around 500lbs on the tongue.

Anyone have any experience with boats this size?

    Thanks!

My 20’ boat is the same weight as yours with surge brakes. Pulls it like it’s not back there. I do have a Limited with factory air suspension which keeps it level which I highly recommend. If you can find a Limited with the air suspension you will be very happy with the set up and how well it tows.

Couldn't find a limited with the leveling suspension anywhere on the east coast. But got a good deal on this one with the other options I wanted. Figured I could always upgrade if it was a problem. Here's how it sits with no leveling suspension. Maybe 1.5" sag, I'll need to measure. The hitch seems lower than on the expedition. I had to reverse my 2" drop to be a 3/4" rise to level the trailer out.

Congrats! Looks almost level. Nice boat too.

My 2nd gen tows our 7000lb boat with surge brakes very well without a WD hitch. 3rd gen won’t have any issues at all.
