That’s actually cool. I’ve never seen stock trucks do those pulls. Only pretty heavily modified diesels. Now I wonder how much of a difference it would make for a hybrid Tundra to try that same pull.

I don't figure Hybrid would make much of a difference. Because tires would be limiting factor in something like this pull.

Always cool to see what a new stock truck can do in a sled pull. Soft rear springs loosing hitch height also cost a lot of potential distance along with factory tires.

Ageed. Technically a higher sitting truck can pull longer because more clearance before shovel digs into the ground, ues?
But you probably need super stiffness to prevent shovel digging into the ground..

But they talk really funny in that second video... :) anyone know what he's(the announcer) saying? (and I grew up on the Quebec border, and mother's family is from Quebec... just not Canadian French based) ;)

The sleds weight and transfer speed up the sled is modified (by gearing) based on the horsepower of the vehicle doing the pulling.

You are on the right track but it is more about maintaining hitch height. One of the ways most of these classes are regulated is based on a maximum hook or hitch height along with what you are allowed to do with the suspension. A higher hitch height will pull up on the front of the sled more allowing you to gain more momentum before the transfer weight pushes the pan into the ground, along with more traction on the rear tire. If the class allow for it blocking rear suspension solid or limiting travel makes a big difference in maintaining this hitch height.

Interesting. I've also noticed a large counterweight in some videos on the front end of the vehicle. That effectively give more traction to the front and lift the rear a little bit. I haven't seen anyone do it before.

Yes classes usually have a maximum weight limit, and moving that weight around to different points on the truck help with traction.

Many years ago I used to compete in truck pulling, its not a tundra but this is a short clip from back then starting at 2:03.
