Hard shifting

I have a problem with extreme hard transmission shifting when I punch the gas pedal and kick in the Magnuson supercharger on my 2019 Tundra TRD Pro. No tuning available for it from Magnuson and the transmission shop doesn't recommend a valve body upgrade. Any thoughts or suggestions for a fix to this problem?

This is help but your tuning will be the best "fix"...I had the Tundra BD Tune and went with the OVt and haven't looked back as it shifts WAAAAAY better now...I wish I had this valve body though...it will REALLY help on the shifting by holding line pressure for the boosted truck:

The problem is the lack of a tune. The ecu uses the mass air meter values to decide when and how hard to shift. It’s bot calibrated for the amount of volume the mass air meter is seeing because of the supercharger.

get with VFtuner, aka OrangeVirus. They can tune your truck. Or, point you in the direction of a tuner whom can.

Hey everyone thank you for your posts. I posted my problem long ago, and got sidetracked with my wife getting cancer. But everything has turned out good for us! But now my transmission has totally failed. Does not work in reverse but still moves forward but slips bad. I have it a a transmission shop now and I feel the guy is giving me a line of crap on the fix. This valve body change you posted is a Godsend thank you. I also need more information on this tuning thing for the supercharger where to have it done. I'll be following up with all you advice and help. Thank you all so much!

 

So sorry to hear about the cancer! I hope she is doing much better. I was just asking because i installed a magnuson on my 19 pro last year and noticed an extremely hard 2-3 shift immediately. Magnuson said they never heard of that problem. Im a toyota master tech and i just put a transmission on order for my truck as its still under warranty. I have gotten a custom tune now but i think the damage has already been done. My truck drives fine but has that hard shift from 2-3 so i just havent been beating on it. I believe that the supplied OVtune was just absolute crap. I was unhappy with how the transmission tune felt from day one. Ill update once i get the new trans in.

 

When I was told about IPT transmissions here on this thread. It took me a minute to realize that when I had my 97 4Runner transmission upgraded. I had sent it to IPT for performance mods 15 +years ago. They did a outstanding job and 345000 miles later the transmission still solid! So now my Tundra game plan has changed. I'm going to go ahead and melt my credit card and send my Tundra tranny to them and have the valve body upgrade and the T converter upgraded. Then figure out the best tune based on everyone's input here. Truck breaking down couldn't have happened at a worse time for me but I'm going to reach success in the end I hope.

 

My 2021 shifted fine with the stock magnuson supercharger components and tune that came with it. With mods though I believe the tune no longer knows when to shift right.
