Took in my 3 week old Tundra with 900 miles on it in this morning because it was pulling to the right. Service tech backed a Sienna into it. I knew it was bad when I saw the GM's face, but boy did they make it right.

New truck with heated leather upgrade. Wasted day and quite the headache, but they made a life long customer out of me. I'm pretty certain the bigger dealership across the river would have fought me on this one.

    Lol wow, good for you!
My truck got scratched very little bit at the dealer right in front of me, they paid for everything but truck spent 2-3 weeks in the body shop... I had about 2k miles on it

I only got free oil changes out of them..

Plot twist - dealership had a customer looking for this exact model. GM had mechanic perform the damage they knew they could fix and sell to the other customer with a markup since it's used now.

I'm dumbfounded that a dealer would do that. Amazing customer service. I wonder how bad that tech got reamed.

This was 10 years ago or so but my brother had bought a used camry from the local yota dealer here. It was a year old or so. He had signed the papers and paid but hadn't actually picked it up. My dad carried him up there to get it and when the porter or whoever was bringing it around, he hit another customer that was driving around the corner. They actually put him in a brand new one. Porter was fired. ..

Well, it certainly happened. Yes, they are eating it all the way around on this deal, but they didn't even hesitate to put me in a new one.

Here's a pic of the new one I took yesterday afternoon.

They wrote it up on the board as moving a unit?? I had to go register and pay taxes on the wrecked one this morning. That one was a trade it on the new one I got yesterday. The trade in value was the same as the sales price and they ate the leather.

Shoot, if you're comfortable with it, you should post which dealership this is. Easy promotion for them. Would make it worth it for them to eat the cost of leather when they get this kind of exposure.

It might. Body shop time is scarce these days and labor is high. Parts are also scarce. Time down for body work plus time spent in rental is probably more than just swapping trucks, repairing the truck and reselling as like new with 900 miles on it.

My good buddy is a service director for a large local dealership. Based on what he's told me, I'm amazed about how frequently they have accidents in the parking lots.

That's my line of thinking. They are probably aware how long it would have taken to get all the parts in for repair. I would have insisted they put me something new for 3 months while it was being repaired and then they would have had a used vehicle with 5000 miles on it once mine was ready. It'll probably get repaired and not even show up on the title.

Even after the body shop they will still make loads of money on the sale of a vehicle with only 900 miles. It'll be labeled a Demo unit.

Gang, I still remember the days when you buy brand new, drive it off the lot and its value drops in half..

While the dealership did it right, I don't think this accident will be reported anywhere - the dealer will fix it and put it back in the lot for sale. I mean it's only got 900 miles, and will be sold as Certified Pre-own, the dealership is going to make more money off this

If OP is willing to Post the VIN for us to track, I am just curious if I am going to be right about the reporting part. :monocle:

    Stealerships don't eat anything, ever.

This just goes to show how much profit was built into the first deal. Insurance will pay for the repair, and they made more money selling the wrecked truck than they did the first time, and somewhere in there you can bet there was a tax benefit to boot.

Not to mention with you being a customer for life, they will eventually steal back 20 times their cost on those heated leather seats.

EDIT: Sorry I dont want to rain on your parade. You got free heated leather, so cheers to that!!

As far as I know, atleast in Georgia, it's not reported unless there's a police report.

Nothing to report if there were no injuries and they took care of all damages. ( and happened on private property )
I think G10dra was more interested to see if it ends up entered on that truck's CarFax report.
