Just curious. Haven't gotten around to doing it on my truck yet and didn't see anything in the manual about it. Maybe I didn't look hard enough

Pretty sure since around 17-18 all u-joints are sealed, no zerks.

Edit: Not sure if they brought them back for 3rd Gen.

Sweet, did not know that and hadn't got the chance to get underneath and check. Thanks!

Greased my rear u-joints today. It had been a year or so… I shoot for every 10k miles. 2017 ftw.

So, some of us have zerks and some don't? What is the real story?

My 2016 tacoma had zerks, but my son’s 2022 does not. Neither does my 22’ tundra. I think toyota has moved away from greasable u-joints.

It doesnt really seem to be an issue on other vehicles. Maybe if you were in the Sahara driving in sand everyday it would be one thing but sealed joints and ball joints and stuff seem to last 100’s of thousands of miles these days.

Interesting. I had no idea that they stopped using greasable u joints; maybe the dealerships weren't making money replacing u-joints and there was a surplus of them in the warehouse??

I know that dealer never greased mine even though I asked them to literally every time I went in for service. Now I grease them every 5k per the manual.

If the u-joints have zerk fittings, then grease them. If not, just run them.
