    Hi,

2019 Tundra ~30 months old 33,000 miles so under original warranty.

    Creaking front end.

Called local Toyota and they said it may NOT be covered under warranty!

I'm pretty sure it should.... How should I approach this? They want to charge me $120 just to look at it!

Would help to determine what’s making the noise first, then take it from there. They can’t tell you whether it’s covered under warranty based off the only claim there is noise.

    You guys aren't getting it....

As I said it's under original 3 year 36K mile warranty.

Called Toyota and they said may not be covered and they charge $120 for diagnosis either way!

    It IS covered! Clearly!

PLUS they just called back and said the "warranty technician" is not in so they can't help me today anyways....

Smaller Toyota dealer and I'm thinking they just don't like dealing with warranty issues so throwing up road blocks....

    Thanks,

    Trav

Sure... BUT I travel and happen to be 1 mile from this dealer for the next week. This is THE best chance to get it addressed or at least diagnosed and am frustrated a genuine Toyota dealer is making it difficult!

When I first called they we're ready to see me; bring it in right now. When it became a warranty issue they started the BS.

All of a sudden the warranty technician is not in today is a joke!

It may not be covered because a "sound" could be anything including brakes. Which wouldn't be covered by warranty.

So therefore, they're not wrong by saying it may not be covered.

The diagnostic fee though is bs unless they plan on refunding you if it is warranty covered.

Dealers are covered up in customer pay , some not all will try to broom you
On warranty work over the phone , make a face to face appointment over your concerns ,
Be prepared to pay if they see brake pads worn out , or something you may
Accidentally ran over , suspension upgrade, I’d take a good look underneath

If it’s covered under warranty then they’ll refund you the $120. Like others said, it could be brakes, shocks, or road damage which wouldn’t be covered. Warranty isnt insurance and doesn’t cover wearable parts.

I have never had to pay anything under the original warranty they looked fixed and went in my way.

If we do not understand take your issues elsewhere....

Most auto warranties, including Toyota's, specifically point out squeaks, creaks, and other noises as issues that are specifically NOT covered. If the CAUSE of the noise is covered, then you're covered. Otherwise, you will have to pay for it or live with it.

Some folks have had issues w/skids, etc. creaking or rubbing at their mounting locations... Most of the time it's occurring when folks add a trans skid to their engine skid or something similar in nature.

I'm not saying that's definitely your issue. However a rubber grommet or 'shim' between the frame/crossmember or other mounting location for skids and such can sometimes be an easy fix or at least help you eliminate that as a noise source.

I hope you find an easy resolution and that Toyota takes care of you if something OE is causing the problem

I need to take the truck in for other warranty work so hopefully they can find the issue. I have some suspension things that will need the skid to be removed so I’ll add some rubber grommets then.

Read your warranty. Lots of things are not covered!! before you act like a douchebag telling people people they don't get it. You don't get it.
