I have a 2010 double cab. It has the non jbl, non nav stock radio. I purchased a power acoustik hu and I am looking into what wiring harnesses I may need. From the looks of it I am probably just going to cut and splice. I doubt I would ever put the stock unit back in. So, to retain the steering wheel controls, could I just splice those in or is an adapter needed? It looks like I may lose the usb port under the ac controls as the new unit only has 1 usb and it’s on the front. What has everyone else done?

    Alot of them
I would not go through the headache of splicing steering wheel controls. A Maestro unit is the way to go. Crutchfield carries installation harnesses.

Spoke with Crutchfield, their solution, while probably the best, cost more than the hu. Found a wiring harness at Walmart for like $10 and found a kit for the steering wheel controls for like $50 or so online so will probably go that route.

That's great news Flightdeck.....can you share the details on the kits, I might go the same/similar route for mine. I just swapped out my steering wheel to a new one because the airbag had deployed and the new wheel does have the steering wheel audio controls where the stock truck did not! Thanks!

Sorry for the late response. I decided not to incorporate the steering wheel controls. Honestly haven’t missed them. The power acoustik head unit from Walmart gives me Apple car play and a back up cam. Car play works great, speakers sound better (although they will be upgraded soon) only issue now is the cheap back up cam stopped working. I am going to pull the radio out tomorrow and check all of my connections. It worked great for like 6 months, then I went out of town for a week, got back, it don’t work…it was only like $20 or so on Amazon, probably just going to order another and see what happens. If it’s the radio, I am not sure if I will keep it or replace it. Having the back up cam spoiled me a little…it also has a front cam input…
