Front seat lifts

Consider your invitation to ride in my lap in the drivers seat withdrawn then.

 

Again not Rocket Surgery here but just common sense.
Thin solid spacer and longer rated bolts and not much to go wrong with the way I do it either.

Now some seats in some vehicles are not as straight forward to lift like this but it really does not get any more basic than these seats in my experience.

Ouch, the hate has been flying! Just popped in and saw these comments? What the heck guys? Do it or don’t do it. I simply provided my thoughts. Mounts are still fine. I stick to the fact that I spent $20 and not $90. All is still riding solid as a rock and more comfortable. I did not spend 3 hours of time as someone mentioned, more over 30 min. There was a reference to mounting something on the front as well? I did my version of that too. Here you go. Probably gonna get some flack about it possibly cutting my ankles off in an accident?

 

Are you implying that my lifts look bad? Or they are some sort of weaker block of aluminum that affects safety? They look no different than the desert ones? I used those measurements. I would almost say that you must have some affiliation with them to do this much bashing. It’s a high strength bolt through a block of aluminum into the existing bolt hole of my truck. Make you feel better to know that I used loctite on them?

 

Nice! It’s definitely all about that thigh support. I’ve only done one long trip so far but my thighs got more uncomfortable than any car I’ve ever ridden in!!

 

I can't speak for the other post, but I never said anything like that. What I did say is the way you did it is probably just fine, and the only homegrown option I'd consider. If you have the tools and skills to accomplish it, then great. You basically just recreated the other design.

I was talking about the folks recommending using rubber bushings or washers or bending stuff to make it fit, that's just dumb.

 

I just did the today and went the cheap route with some 1"x2" flat bar.

Measure two pieces of flat bar, put in the bandsaw, cut, drill two holes and install. that took maybe 20 minutes.
Save $90, priceless!!

 

Yeah, I’ll spend the $90 and get the one that doesn’t look like I just drilled and cut it with my bandsaw. To each their own!

 

I figured they would not be that bad to make, nice work!

 

This is a troll of a comment, so another 20 minutes with a file and a flapper wheel, and someone would not know this is not factory. To each their own!

 

Quick update on this mod I did for my truck. I read through all these comments and although I certainly have the means to cut and drill a block of aluminum, I couldn't pass up the $60 deal I found on eBay for TWO sets of these seat risers/jackers, or whatever you want to call them. Install was a breeze, and I am satisfied with the quality of this product. It has made driving my truck over longer distances much more comfortable and my foot isn't going to sleep like it used to do.

I think everyone should what they feel most comfortable with, whether you go homemade or buy commercially. For the price I paid, I couldn't justify my time and money to cut and fit a homemade riser in there, but others may feel differently. Either way, this is a worthwhile mod if you are tall like me and get frustrated with the angle of the gas pedal to the seat.
