My wife came in this morning and said the truck wouldn't start. I went out and tried myself and I had the same results. The battery is charged that was my first guess. When I put the key in the ignition and try turning it I only get " P R N D S" on the dash, the doors open red light, the "Toyota" on the radio screen and what looks like a red anti theft light that flashes when the keys are out of the ignition. Also the seat and steering wheel move into the driving position as normal when the key is in the ignition. Does anyone have any ideas on where I can begin diagnosing this this to get it to start?

The ECM has many fuses, run through all of them, sounds like one of them may have popped, if not, check the wiring for animal chewing. We have had a bunch of that lately at the shop.

How have you tested the battery?

Have you checked the negative battery cable ? From the battery to the other end ? I had a vehicle that acted the same as you’re describing and that’s what it turned out to be .

If you have a telescopic column, the wires in the column can flex and break. Not saying that is your problem, just getting it in this thread since other no starts will be referencing it.

^ this and make sure the battery posts and clamps are super clean and free of corrosion..
The thinnest layer of corrosion can cause this..

If, again, IF the battery in the key or fob dies or is dying it (the key/fob) cannot complete the handshake with the anti-theft system. The truck does not recognize the key/fob as legitimate. When the start sequence is initiated the anti-theft system intervenes.

I would check the battery. I just had something like this happen to me. I replaced the original battery 2 weeks ago yesterday (had to go to Autozone out of convenience). The following Friday, I pulled in my driveway, turned the truck off, and had no power. It wouldn't crank and the locks wouldn't even work. The only thing that came on was the center instrument panel display. I jumped it and it seemed to run fine but would go dead when I turn the truck off. I drove it back to Autozone and they checked the battery. First time it tested good. I then tried to start the truck and nothing. They tested it again and it tested bad. I jumped the truck and alternator tested good. Guy said that he hadn't ever had a battery test good and bad. They replaced the battery and it's been fine since.

In simple terms, your battery starts your car and the alternator keeps it running. Today's cars have a lot more electronic features that can cause problems, but the battery's a good place to start.

Battery had 12.5v, after checking all the fuses I found a 7.5a was burnt up. After replacing it everything is perfect. It turns out the fuse was for the starter solenoid. I have no idea how that happened. The truck was parked just like any other night then nothing the next morning. Maybe my wife did something and did t tell me lol. Thanks for all the help everyone.

I would replace the battery. You most likely blew the fuse due to an increase in amperage draw due to the lower voltage.
