can someone from toyota give us their bs talking points on why we no longer need resi shocks on TRD PRO model?

So according to toyota, we no longer need a V8, trans cooler, tow hooks, interior room, resi shocks, and finally we don’t need a truck. what we actually want according to toyota, is an suv with a bed and a mustache for a grill.

To be fair, the powerplant change is heavily influenced by regulations that come straight out of california. They are such a huge car market that no manufacturer is willing to lose them by not complying with whatever emissions demands they force through. The only way to meet those demands is with small displacement anemic engines that are then turbocharged to get back to a drivable level of performance.

As for the SUV stuff, start taking your non outdoorsy and non off roading buddies on trips so they start wanting those features back. It's all through market and customer research on general use and the result is a product aimed to please as many as possible. Get people to quit sniveling about MPGs in a truck, complaining that their car seats don't fit, or that they can't fit the whole family and that it doesn't ride like a cadillac. The manufacturers want to sell as many as they can, so get people to buy the stuff that fits what you like and the market might shift toward that. Can't blame them for aiming to please the most rather than just the most passionate.

Probably because anyone with some sense wouldn’t spend all that money on the TRD Pro and would put a much nicer set of aftermarket 2.5” coilovers on a cheaper trim and save a bunch of money while getting better performance

i dont think so. The TRD Pro is the trim you get if you want the look and some basic performance improvements over lower trims, and don’t wanna do the mods yourself. Its never been anything too spectacular.

If you want some methods and king 2.5” resi shocks, why would you buy a pro?

Nobody is saying it's spectacular or that you can't buy a cheaper trim and upgrade it for less. That's always been the case. If you want the best performance you can get stock because you have no desire to modify, then the Pro is easily the choice to make. If you want better value retention than other trims, the Pro an easy choice. And if you want whatever the special color is for that year, the Pro is the only choice unless you want to wait until next year.

That's a broad brush, and anyone who buys a Pro doesn't have to be lacking sense. You could make the argument that buying the Pro and then tearing out the suspension for something else doesn't make a lot of sense, but even then to say that "anyone with some sense" wouldn't buy a Pro is 100% a dig at Pro owners.

Full disclosure: Yes, I have Pro. No, it is not a Tundra. No, I'm not going to mod the suspension.

Lol pro fanbois, what a world we live in.

Guess you miss the point the tundra TRD pro is so hit miss, look at the new Tacoma pro it's coming out with way more trick stuff for within 2 years of launching the new TRD pro.

It's bad look for yota but fanbois will just say turd pro all the way

Tundra pro is a limited with shocks
Tacoma pro is more then that already with wifi and seats etc

"Enthusiast" has been replaced with the more derogatory "Fan Boi". Awesome. Maybe someone truly is a fan of the look? Of the factory capability? The more Unique interior accents? It's an all-in-one package that doesn't need to be updated at great expense by the buyer to do 99% of what most people will ever do with the truck? Comparing it to some other model and using that to say the PRO isn't any good? Welcome to the internet I guess. Comparison is the thief of joy.
