Well, we are just a few days away from August when a whole raft if us are supposed to get our second fobs. So, will we see reports of that soon here, or will this chart turn out to be bad info? As for me, I am not holding my breath.

no different than what most oem's are doing anyway not just with fobs. ask how many of the big 3 are still waiting for features they paid for and still havent gotten.

i am betting most big 3 customers would be more than happy they have all the features they paid for and missing 1 of 2 fobs is the least of the issues they would complain about.

Funny, you can buy a OEM fob at a remote/key/electronic accessory store for sale $450 programmed in Chicago, but only one with my new truck.
How is it suppliers can get them to sell, but toyota is short....
Unless they fell off a truck or are fake.:monocle:

A family member with a '22 Sierra 1500 AT4 is still waiting for heated seats, power passenger seat, and a few other small things. I'll take one fob over missing features.

Should have clarified, it's missing the "powered" part of the passenger seat. In the meantime, it doesn't move. At all.

Just stop being a Toyota fanboy. I have said it one and I'll say it till this train wreck is over had Toyota handed this with clear concise and direct to the customer (take that dam chart and toss it in the trash) this would be much less of an issue. Also here me out I guarantee Toyota financial would not be this understanding of holding 1 months payment for 8 to 10 months or more because at the end of the day a key that can be bought and programmed at the dealership for around 500.00 is a car payment.

Well, it is gonna hit ~100 degrees today and tomorrow so the seats will be self heating.

Exactly, same terrible service and lack of communication as with the tonneau cover recall. For that Toyota wants to shift any and all liability for continuing to use the cover onto the customer... or have us drive around in a vehicle that does not serve the purpose many of us bought them for in the first place... whilst also not providing any information as to exactly what the problem is or when it might be resolved. I wanted to be a fanboy but, just no. I just can't go there.

Buyer beware. I agree with you. Toyota took the sale and then informed us of the issue. Based on the spreadsheet, I'm supposed to receive my second FOB this August. I also have a case opened for this. In my opinion, Toyota should refund the cost of the 2nd FOB and then in-turn we purchase from the dealer.

well at least toyota sells a vehicle with all features enabled or installed that is on the window sticker. if you dont like that part of toyota go back to the other brands so you can get your 2 fobs. and toyota clearly indicated that with a sticker on the vehicle that i was only getting 1 fob.

so i dont see the issue that toyota didnt communicate that i was only getting 1 fob. i still have the sticker saying to that effect.

if you are that bent out of shape about toyota not giving 2 fobs, go back to the other brands. they will be more than happy to take you.

Except a workable tonneau cover. I should correct that... they sell it to you with a supposedly working cover, then remove it before they hand you the keys.. I mean key... or the next time you visit the dealer for an oil change. $1300 down the drain.

Since there seems to be plenty of supply in the parts system that is exactly what they should have done if they weren't willing to directly shift some of those back to current owners. And based on the anecdotes about these being plentiful in the parts depts... that's all we have since Toyota says very little officially... I hope that August date is correct since that is also what mine should be. And maybe something will shake loose on the tonneau cover soon... but not looking like it will be resolved before my next road trip.

When I picked up my Tundra on July 24th, the dealership asked me sign an acknowledgment that I would only be receiving one key fob with the truck along with an extra door key. There was no date for the second key fob only that I would be receiving one in the future.

The story about "chip shortage" and not having enough keys / FOBs is BS.
I guy I know bought a 2022 Highlander and has been waiting for months for his 2nd key. Repeated inquires with the dealer he bought the car from and Toyota customer service led to nothing. Then he called a different Toyota dealer and said that he would like to buy a 2nd key because he lost one. The dealer was happy to oblige - for a $560 fee. He asked the dealer to confirm if they had spare keys in stock and the answer was "yes, we have a few". Then he called another dealer and got exactly the same answer. He ended up buying the 2nd key and now is trying to get the cost reimbursed by Toyota.

The fact is that there are spare keys available, it's just Toyota dragging their feet and hoping that people will forget about the issue.

No I don't what I need is Toyota to 1. Get the key to owners 2. Fix the headunit software issue that's been ongoing for two years now 3. Enable digital Key

Not having the second fob can be an inconvenience for some, no question about that. However there is not much you nor I can do about it. I am sure Toyota will come good on it and I don't think anyone who is missing one is going to forget about it either.

As for people paying to get one from the dealer, that is their choice probably because they need it more than others with two or more drivers in the family.

Honestly I really don't need a second fob right now as it keeps my wife from taking my truck, LOL.

Yes, but won it just be part of an existing or a new “Service” you’ll have to pay for?

Is most people waiting for letter fromToyota at later date or talking to their dealer for their 2nd key fob?

I called Toyota Brand Engagement from owners website and expressed my concerns about second key fob could be purchased but not provided to a new owner. I encourage new owners with just one key to do the same.

Agree, two separate divisions. One being Toyota NA and the other the dealership.

That said, easily taken care of by refunding price of second FOB via a credit voucher that is taken to parts. This voucher has the cost center from Toyota NA for the dealership to recoup the cost and balance transfer of the owed 2nd FOB. Happens all the time within corporate level accounting.

The concern is Toyota is flat dragging their feet on this. There is adequate inventory at the dealership for sale/profit at the expense of not providing the owed 2nd FOB's based on continued auto sales.

In the end, believe this would qualify for a class action legal case.
