Isn’t there a TSB for this already? It isn’t likely to reach recall status.

I'm sure there has to be a certain amount of complaints before they issue a recall.

    Welcome from NY.

I don’t believe recalls are for cosmetic annoyances. They have to involve safety issues. Trim that falls off will be low on that scale.

That sucks. Mine smacked the vehicles windshield behind me. To me it's a safety issue but I get what you're saying.

@Ellis3800 This was a known issue a couple of years ago. Toyota changed to a different part number retaining clip to solve the issue.

    LOL.

Your Tundra is just trying to reject the unholy fake hood scoop the factory rudely glued to its face. I mean if someone taped a dumb JC Whitney looking non functional hood scoop to your face you’d want to be rid of it too right?

So which hood bulge are we talking about because there seems to be some confusion in the posts.

Is it the bulge that's at the front of the hood above the grill or is it the nonfunctioning hood scoop?

Yes, Toyota bought them about 15 years ago to supply fake hood scoops for Tundras, Tacomas, and 4Runners.
