Aaaand the water shut off valve for the toilet doesn't work.

I'd rather take a beating than do plumbing, because what should be simple and easy NEVER is when it comes to water.

A plumber buddy of mine told me to exercise the toilet valves once a year to keep them free, excellent advice I have yet to do.

I think if the top plates are ordered w/them they are not welding on at the factory; they get bolted on by the consumer as part of the install process ...

Anyhow, I was in the middle of trying to get everything buttoned up yesterday; noticed the holes and after I was done w/the install I forgot to even check to see how/if they drain out, so I'll definitely be doing that today...

 

I'm hoping it's totally open... and the powder coating and finish are nicely done throughout the inside of that area; if not

NWP was correct... completely open on the bottom; it's not a 'full bar' of steel just a connecting top plate welded on and pre-drilled to ease the top plate install for those that opted for them.

Not the best option in terms of aesthetics, but much better than that opening being boxed in

 

Or the rust has been painted over

The redneck stupid f**k-wits that put this place in didn't do a shut off to the house. So I have to flip a breaker to half the house.

I called it quits when the bolts to the toilet started free spinning. If the flange in the floor is shot it's outside my willingness to play because it needs to be done quickly with the water situation.

With frustration mounting, I decided to tag a plumber. Pisses me off that something as simple as a toilet swap gets effed all to hell because the dipshits who put the house in were half asses about it.

It's all good though. For all the headache, frustrations, and struggles I just have to remember one thing. Someday, I'll die and won't have to mess with plumbing anymore.

OK, picking the brains of our electricians. Flipped 4 breakers to kill the water. Flipped them back on and one won't stay. It's not the water breaker at least, but dome outlets snd lights are on it.

 

Try turning it off again with a little more pressure, what brand of panel?
