The drivers seat bottom is pretty threadbare and has a tear in the bolster:
Any good options for durable seat covers on the 40/60 split? Im not sure who is dirtier after a long day playing outside, Myself or Dale.

 

Brakes: for a while after I got mine I thought a big-brake swap was inevitable (the brakes sucked) but as an experiment I installed Hawk green/SUV pads and I now do not see any need. These pads grab fast and hard, and do not fade. As long as your back shoes are in good shape and adjusted properly, and you have fully bled the lines, these are the bomb. No need for larger calipers/rotors/rims/tires

If it does not bother you, no. But, if the fine engineering minds at Toyota intended for there to be that much play, they would have spec’d that much in the bearing when new. I tend to be real anal/sensitive to anything off spec, especially driveline and suspension, that’s all.

 

I dunno, it's just something virtually everyone I've seen check on here has found. 1/4" to 1/2" of play, it's apparently normal for the OEM carrier.

 

What did the red hazard button come on?

 

Earlier model trucks. I know in 2005 when the 5spd came out, they pulled 1st gear off the indicator and put a "SHIFT L" button for 1st gear in that location. It's possible they got rid of the red button earlier, but, like, my '06 has a black button with a red triangle in the middle IIRC.

 

So, no specific package or trim had it? Was it just random whether the truck came with it or not? I know in some Japanese cars the JDM variant will have a red hazard and the USDM counterpart won't, but they can be swapped over.

 

My 2000 has the red hazard button also.

 

I could be wrong but I think it's only the 2000's that had the red button. My 02 is black.

 

Nope, it was just an earlier truck thing.

Fun thing is, the button shape and size, I don't believe it changed thru the years. I wouldn't doubt if I could slap an old red button in my center dash bezel. But after the work I had to do to swap buttons when I upgraded to wood grain ... hell, I don't want to do that.

That angle makes things look weird, like the dash bezel matte part is embossed outward or something. Total optical illusion. Or maybe the drugs the doc put me on are better than I thought.

I'm jealous of y'all earlier year trucks with the perfect double-DIN radio opening.

My T100 had a cloth bench seat, it developed a few rips over the years, I never got a cover for it but I did find that iron on patches worked pretty well and kept the holes from getting bigger and protected the foam.
Even if you find a cover it might be a good idea to try the patches to protect the foam.

 

Rattle can makes a quick fix of that

 

I stitched up my driver seat when it was just an inch long tear and it’s held for a few years now. Might try an old school upholstery shop if you have one in your town

I think I'm going to go this route when its time. https://coverking.com/products/2000...02&sub=SR5&main=seat-cover-ballistic-tactical I reached out to them a while back to confirm fitment of the 40/60 split.

Im a sucker for the convenience of molle. The rear seat is getting removed to fit a 60qt dual zone fridge/freezer, so the extra seat back storage will be nice.

I'm 90% sure I just landed another project, just waiting on engineering and city plan approval. Unfortunately that means I won't be playing with the truck anytime soon. Im going to have more money in my new parts pile than I paid for the truck before too much longer.

Somebody remind me in about a month that I have straight water in the cooling system, around Halloween is first freeze territory.
