I know that when really doing anything to the front suspension requires an alignment. Do I need one after removing the front sway bar?

If I were doing so, I wouldn't do an alignment. If I understand its function, it stabilizes loads between the two sides of suspension and doesn't actually alter steering or alignment. I've heard some folks disconnect and tuck theirs upward when off-roading and then reconnect them afterwards.

Ok this makes sense. Also, thanks for the tip! Didn’t even think about rotating the bar upwards and out of the way of the links.

    Nope, don't need an alignment

No alignment as previously stated and it’s a quick job to do, drive it around after and put it back on if you don’t like it. It does make the truck more rolly at highway speed quick maneuvers, but alot better at low speed bumps/holes/etc.

Awesome thanks. Gonna be hitting some dunes in a couple weeks so just wanted to remove and paint before it goes back on.

So, I just removed mine, and now my steering wheel is slightly turned to the passenger side. I guess I’m about to adjust the tie rod ends unless anyone else can think of something. Also, no, nothing else was touched exept the sway bar. It does have a 3.5” lift on the front, and had a sway bar drop that needed to be removed anyway. I doubt this had anything to do with the lift since the sway bar should not affect alignment, but I’ve seen crazier things lol

The sway bar has absolutely NOTHING to do with the front end alignment.
If you have other issues going on... like a bushing smashed out of a control arm or broken spring... it might help hold things in place, but it otherwise should not affect anything related to the alignment.

The truck should handle like an overloaded school bus without a front sway bar. I would never do it on anything street driven.

I was very surprised with how stable it still is, and also, my alignment was perfect before this. But yeah, that’s a possibility

I removed my front sway bar when I installed my Toytecs. They did have a heavier rated spring on them. Rides nice, especially over the smaller stuff, railroad tracks and such. Some extra roll compared to having the sway bar installed, but by no means “school bus”.

I agree, I can still take some pretty treacherous turns at high speeds and be fine without the sway bar

Totally agree. I have same set up and on road not a big difference but off-road night and day. Can articulate way better and less jarring over holes and rocks.
