Hello everyone, this is my first post here on the Tundra Community Forum. I have come here for advice from the combined knowledge of this forum's membership. I am planning on purchasing a new Tundra to replace my 4Runner because I am going to upgrade from a tear drop camper to something a little bigger, nothing huge, but more than the 4Runner can handle in the mountains. My question is whether I should be insisting on the i-force max 6 hybrid motor or is the i-force max 6 plenty of motor for towing a small camper. Thank you for your consideration, Rob.

The Hybrid is really only of use when you're getting going from a stop. This pays back well in cities, stop and go traffic, but not so much on distance runs - you end up lugging hybrid batteries down the highway without using them, reducing your towing capacity.

If you don't mind not having that initial pep right off the line and all you see in the future is distance runs and rural roads, the hybrid probably doesn't do much for you except add resale value later.

The regular engine has plenty of power and saves you some dough. But if you want extra oomph and can afford, go for it, it’s just not needed.
