Surprised that I didn't see any threads from other firearms enthusiasts.

I grew up in Idaho on a small hobby ranch and have been using firearms since I was 10 years old.

I have been into BPCR(Black Powder Cased Rifle) matches in the past when I lived in Arizona. Then when I moved up here, I started competing in Glock matches.

These days, I still go out and do some target shooting when I have time and have a pretty cool collection of fine rifles, pistols, and shotguns.

I also have a concealed carry permit and carry when practical.

Who else is a firearms enthusiast?

Used to be until I was headed to the island to shoot some targets and a wave flipped my kayak... sad sad day....

But yes, love some freedom senders.

3 gun looks like a lot of fun. I've always been a little scared to try it 'cuz I already have too many expensive and time consuming hobbies and I know I'd like it.

Years ago I used to do a "Tuesday Night Tactical" handgun match at the local range. I was doing it very informally, mainly just to better my skills. (and to spend time with the hot girl I was dating who worked there:rolleyes:) but it was fun to watch and learn from the really fast guys with race guns.

This thread reminds me I haven't had any ballistic meditation in awhile.

I should take the kids out to play.

One thing I miss about TX is the land, this was at a 1000 yard range. This is the hog remover. One day I may finally build my 223 for 3 gun, but I havent decided yet. Like previously mentioned, I have enough expensive time consuming hobbies.

Yes indeed... the Evil Black Rifle. Somehow it went from a modern sporting rifle to a Registered Assault Weapon despite never having shot anything except paper, steel, and bowling pins.

    Thank you!

Yes, Ruger GP100 Match Champion. The most recent addition to the collection and my first wheelgun. Pretty crisp trigger with a real clean break right outta' the box.
Those are the factory sights. Adjustable rear (I think you can get fixed or adjustable) and fiber optic front.

    [IMG][IMG]

And yes, I DID get the girl!!

I think the way I asked her out helped... "Are you allowed to date customers? 'Cuz I can take my business elsewhere!":bananadance:

We dated for a couple years. She was a go getter... She had skied before, but I took her snowboarding for her first time. Not long after that she had a job as an instructor, which meant I had a place to stay and free lift tickets!! And when you ride with instructors you don't wait in lift lines. I got used to that real quick. It was a horrible shock when she quit and I had to start paying for lift tickets and lodging again.

Yeah, I rarely ever tried to use "Lines" 'cuz they always seemed so cheesy, but once in awhile you hear something come outta' your mouth and think "Dayumm, that was smooth!"

    ?? Nothing there.

Ooops, sorry... just noticed that wasn't to me. DUH

    PM was for Tundra234.

Lines are usually annoying. I have my own ask that is a little different, mostly because this is the first time I have been single for any amount of time since..... hell.... high school. Reading that was a straight smile. Its always awesome when stuff like that works out for people.

Agreed, I often cringe at the shit that I hear guys say that we think is so clever. lol

Just being your genuine self, confident but not cocky is the only way. She and I eventually moved on and are both married to our right people now, but we remained friends for years. She was actually the photographer when my wife of 15 years and I got married.

There is nothing wrong with that at all. One of the obstacles I am seeing when I get into the gritty details is my ex wife and I are still... "friends." There was no hate, hit our 30's followed by mid 30's and realized we are good friends and not good spouses for each other.

Hell, I started a business and she is one of my most vocal supporters even though she has zero to gain from it.

Life is fun if we allow it to be and surround ourselves with the right people. But we need to be genuine and surround ourselves with like minded people. We do not have to agree, but be able to communicate through it.

or some positive shit like that, lol.

She did walk away with my favorite plinker though... that one still stings even though it was my idea. It was awesome to watch an anti gunner turn into a pretty good shooter.

I love guns and shoot as much as possible, I’m a member at an outdoor range, I shoot steel plate matches with pistol and rifle twice a month.

Man I miss range days like that! Florida just doesnt have the space like TX did. We used to group up and drop way to much on a couple tables and share. Those were the days. In my immediate area, all we have is highly regulated indoor ranges.

That's cool, being friends with your ex is a helluva lot better than the usual alternative.

That's always fun! My wife had never been around guns much and it turns out once I showed her proper grip and mechanics, she got to be a pretty good shot. LOVES the scoped .22 Marlin and I was pleasantly surprised to find she likes stuff with some kick. First time she shot the 12GA she went "Whoa... that's FUN!"

I think this was her first mag through the M&P... kinda' all over the place but the groups tightened up to COM pretty good after a couple more mags. Still can't get her to lean into it though. o_O Chicks always seem to lean back

    M&P Margo.jpg

When I was doing the tactical matches and stuff I remember a couple of instructors telling me that women are usually much better students because they don't get caught up in all the macho stuff that guys do.
Guys are like "I'm a man, I know about guns n' stuff" and not as teachable.

Nice gear!! What are the optics? Looks like maybe a 1-4X (or 1-6X) on one, and a red dot with flip away magnifier on the other?

Too hot to shoot here. Nearest indoor range is 50 miles away. No such thing as public ranges around here. You find a spot in the country that works for you and bring your own shooting bench, target stands, chronograph, etc.

My current favorite spot for pistols is in a little county-owned gravel pit 3 miles out of town. First couple of times I shot there, I cleaned up all the trash, then made sure I always picked up after myself. I was there shooting when a county employee showed up and asked if I was the one that cleaned it up. I responded that I was, and he said I was welcome to shoot there as much as I wanted.i9g4kDXhQliswClm5wRytg.jpg

When it cools down and I have some free time, I am going to shoot the two WWII rifles I inherited a couple of months ago.

Bro... no doubt. She could have run me through the cleaners and didnt. I am thankful daily for that.

back on the story mode.... it was right after we moved in together, she hugged me and said "what is that?" I said, I am just happy to see you... right, i know.. original. She left in a hurry. comes back with a safe and says I never want to see it again. Now (well at least up until I left) she loved to go to the range, loves her shiny purple ear pro, loves that sig 22, and got really decent with my 300blkout. It was beautiful to see.

She even called me one day freaking out because the apartment I moved her to went in without permission and the firs thing she said was "and there is an unsecured firearm, wtf?" I was very proud!
