Yesterday, I had been driving my 2016, Tundra, SR5 and had to shut it off to pick up my mail. When I got back in about 2 minutes later, I started the truck and put it in forward gear. I was stepping on the brake and noticed the engine began accelerating kind of slowly. I kept holding the brake and I looked down to see if me, or something was pressing on the accelerator pedal. Nothing there.
After the engine got up to about 2,000 rpm I turned off the ignition. Put the truck in park and restarted the engine. Everything was fine, I put it in forward gear and drove home.
It was mid afternoon, the truck was warmed up from a 15 mile drive and the outside air temperature was in the mid 90's and very humid. I had a full tank of gas as I had just filled up the day before.
A couple years ago there was a discussion I participated in about Tundra trucks not allowing the engine to accelerate while pressing on the brake pedal. After some research I was able to confirm that my truck had a recall and a software patch installed that disables acceleration while the brake is being pressed. This software was apparently installed in all Toyotas after that "runaway car scare" several years ago.

Anybody experienced anything like this? I can't come up with a "how" this could happen.

    thanks,
    Dustin

I can powerbrake in my truck

This is essentially holding the brake and pressing the accelerator spinning the back tires, never heard of the issue you have mentioned

So you don't have the "runaway" software installed. There's much confusion as many have it installed, many don't, according to that past forum discussion. I cannot "powerbrake" my truck. As soon as I press on the brake AND the accelerator at the same time the engine rpm begins to gradually decrease until the truck stops moving. I have a ScanGaugeII installed so know the computer monitors the brake and the throttle position. The truck computer won't let me do both at the same time. I was trying to burnish new brake shoes on my travel trailer when this happed and it was a real pain to get the job done.

    update:
The software upgrade started in: Nov 25, 2009 as part of the Toyota runaway car accidents caused by floor mats, 2007 - 2009.
    • A brake override system, which cuts engine power if both the accelerator and brake are detected as pressed, will be installed.

Maybe it's a surge idle as if your o2 sensors may be starting to go. Or possibly a vacuum leak somewhere. I don't have the neutered software, but a Remote SWAG (Swinging Wild Ass Guess) would be your mat caught just the tip of the pedal pushing it forward... While you shifted in your seat you may have retracted that anomally.
