Not sure if this is normal, but it just SEEMS, as if the area around the tensioner is a bit noisy.
    2015 CM 5.7 with 131k miles.
I’ve only had it a year, so not sure what all has been done to it.
I also understand Tundras aren’t quite.
Maybe I’m just used to how quite my f150 was. ‍♂️

Might need to replace it. I had to replace our 2014 Sequoia's around 84K. It's fairly easy to remove and replace. Check the belt/replace while you are at it.

Remove the belt and start the truck. You will soon know if it is pulley related or not.

If engine noise, try 5w-30 oil.

Had to replace my tensioner and pulley at 80K miles. Was noisy on startup and in cold temps. 1.5 hour job and worth it to replace the belt while you are in there

Thanks. Is the tensioner normally pretty noisy? It’s not too loud, but it’s noticeable if you sit there.
What else could it be? Comes from the passenger side

The 5.7's are loud in general, but the tensioner shouldn't be that noisy. If you are hearing a lot of noise on the passenger side, it could be the alternator on it's way out.

If you have a stethoscope or a long screwdriver, you can start checking around.

Could Autozone test the alternator for me?

Define "noisy" for us. Is it squeaking? Squealing? Clanking? Rattling? Without knowing the kind of noise it'll be hard to diagnose over the internet.

Like a clank, I guess. It’s almost like a slow sluggish one.

A slow clank doesn't sound like it'd be the normal ticking of the 5.7. The normal noise is like a muted diesel tick, so if you are getting a slow clank I would be looking for something to be off. As others have stated, the tensioner, or anything the belt goes over could be your culprit. Does your AC work well?

Could this be tha a/c compressor engagement clank or clunk that sometimes occurs when the clutch grabs? Almost sounds like it could be. Like I said above, if you take the belt off you can narrow it down a whole bunch. The alternator bearings could also be on their way out, and no auto parts store will test for that on the truck.

This was my thought as well. I know mine (as well as many others on the forum) have the nasty metal clunk sound when they engage their A/C... still have yet to get Toyota to take it seriously when I bring it in.

The tensioner or belt pulley will make a cyclical noise, squeeling or chirping noise. What you described does not sound like the tensioner/pulley noise.

Only issue is that he is saying it is coming from the passenger side....compressor is on the drivers side. My belt tensioner made a chirping noise when it started to go bad, pretty obvious.

OP, can you upload a video of the sound?

Easy solution.... does it make the noise with the a/c light off? If yes, does it make noise with the belt removed? If yes, engine noise. If no, tensioner or alternator bearings are likely the issue. At that point, spin the pulleys by hand and listen & feel for lack of smooth operation.

You know, I was trying to, but it’s not that noticeable anymore. Wonder if it’s because I had just did an oil change
