This is what I've said previously when these types of subjects come up.. I chose 72mph where the truck has a really happy medium between not bouncing and bouncing in Cali highways, mainly concrete sections all asphalt roads are fine. Additionally sometimes changing lanes helps as it's more noticeable in some lanes vs others.

Edit: I know the subject is mainly dirt roads and there are no lanes except the ones you make for yourself.

I no longer live in a area that is prone to that problem, so I haven't experienced it w/my '21 Pro...

However, my '08 SR5 would experience it on a couple of the newer stretches of FWY in Vegas and CA. The truck went through some various stages of how the bed was being used.

I tried sand bags originally, and it helped but didn't completely resolve. However, I wasn't too concerned about chasing the issue as I was planning on adding weight back there for my dog set up...

Next, I threw a 3/4" thick 4x6 (cut to fit) stall mat (about 95lbs) in the bed and my 4'x4' aluminum dog box on top of that (another 85-100lbs) and the issue resolved.

A few years later, I removed the dog box and transitioned to a SnugTop; but left the stall mat in for the extra consistent weight in the bed... again, issue remained resolved w/this combo as well.

Good luck w/your own resolution

My 2019 F150 rode like a dream on stock 17 inch tires. My 2021 Tundra on stock 20 inch tires was harsh and would just get off track going over bumps in a turn. Might have been the crappy tires as well, as I got the Tundra from Carmax, and the back wheels were out of thrust angle so likely rear ended or backing into a post or something.

The weird thing is that before the alignment it didn't veer off to the side, but after then alignment it was a very noticeable improvement.

Sounds to me like lifting it, e rated tires, is causing it to wobble. I'd go back to stock. May not like it but people with lifted trucks don't care about some drivability issues, and people with tiny side walls only care about how well it corners. Both can be to such extremes it's ridiculous.

The day I took the Tundra back to Carmax for refund, I happened to hit a bad pot hole. Pretty sure it knocked it back out of alignment and if it has any other issues makes it that much worse.

I'm stoked the Tacoma Sport I ordered has the exact same size wheels and tires as my 2019 F150. The F150 drove so much better it wasn't even close and with 17 wheels didn't have to worry about most potholes. On the highway was the best driving vehicle I ever had.

Still the Tundra's reliability was most important and could live with the stock ride. Mine had aftermarket cats and as mentioned back end was out of wack so wasn't paying 40k for used vehicle with those kind of issues, otherwise would have kept it.

Hope you get it sorted out. May not be popular here but most people just keep their trucks stock. I really don't understand how the F150 drove so much better, higher payload, but the 17 tires I think make a huge difference.

    Update from OP

Traded the truck in on a Ram 1500 Limited 4x4 Offroad with airbag suspension. Bounce is gone and drives like a Caddy. Thanks for everyones help. I’ll miss Tundra reliability but make up for it in comfort.

Glad you were able to get a rig that works well for what you need! You got any pics to share of the new ride? :worthless:

The roads in Colorado are complete crap. I'm in the market for new shocks on my 3500. I may just spring for some 2.5" Kings and be done.

I think this is issue is almost always cement highway sections. It seems to be the middle of the section gets eroded and the portion that meets the next section is higher so the vehicle constantly goes up/down/up/down. There’s a section like this in Washington where I drove an unmodified 2017 and 2021 SR5 DC and had no bed bounce. Then after lifting and larger Load D tires began to have major bed bounce, with the only remedy to drive on the edge of the lane or for whatever reason the fast lane has no bounce, might be the semi trucks causing the erosion. Thus I think specific cement sections of roads have unique spacing and erosion which means different wheelbases and suspensions will behave differently.

Yep, just bad luck. Buying a Tundra last year in Colorado not knowing about bed bounce has probably happened to everyone I just exasperated it with all the upgrades/mods and trying to make up for not having all the creature comforts of the ram. I'm just glad I went the smart router and bought an older model for a good deal. I upgraded into this truck with barely anything down and the same monthly costs as the Tundra...[IMG]

Here's the new rig. 2020 Ram 1500 Limited 4x4 with rear locker*. It's got the air suspension so I can raise/lower up to 4in of travel. Going to ride it like this for the next couple years until the air suspension fails and then switch to a BDS lift with 35s and 18's. It also has a heated steering wheel and rear locker which I'm thrilled about since I live in Colorado*

Check the interior on the limited - best in class. Avg 18mpg city and saw 26mpg yesterday on a 2hr drive. Can only feel the bouncing now when I think to notice.

For all those who hate on luxury trucks, I tried it your way. Thanks for the help everyone.

Don't. Tundra will NEVER be an HD. I want to see what the next couple of years bring to the HD market and what off-road options come through.

Did you love the ride when stock?

my experience with the tundra, you either want stock rear shocks, or hella expensive shocks. Everything in the middle is just plain stiff

    The tundra isn’t going anywhere.

a 1 ton ram Cummins or 7.3 Godzilla ford would be the next truck.
Or possibly a jeep wrangler 4 door.

just depends. Originally I was going to buy a ram when I fell into my tundra deal. I got 10k off msrp, 3k over kbb on my trade, and 0% financing on my truck. I literally cracked a joke they’d have to offer me a deal I couldn’t refuse to buy and then they offered me the above.

we were already stealing my wife’s highlander from them and they were pushing the tundra on me and got me suckered in.

suspension is such a personal preference it’s hard to say what works.

many people are happy with the middle of the road ome / bilstien lifts.

I have an “Expensive” icon lift and am estatic with it. However, I like the stiffness and how it rides. (Stage 8)

there are people with dirt king long travel that swear I’ll like theirs more. Maybe some day I’ll give it a try.

Nice Ram. My next truck will either be a silverado or ram. Probably ram. My neighbor has a rebel. His truck is light years smoother than my tundra, even with LT tires on his vs my stockers
