    Hey everyone,

As the title suggests, I've noticed that my hybrid isn't kicking in as frequent. At a stop light, the engine doesn't turn off and just keeps running. It will not turn on for slower, flat level speeds when it usually does. Also going downhill, it just decides to downshift and keep the revs high as if it's in sport mode. I keep it on eco mode and the gear drift in drive so not sure why it does that. I live in Las Vegas and it has been extremely hot as of late. Not sure if the A/C running high or the cooled seats has something to do with this.

If you guys know anything, let me know. Thank you!

I’m in Phoenix and I have noticed the same. Pretty sure it’s because of the heat (115 degrees this week) and running the ac and cooled seats full blast.

There are certain operating conditions for the battery and cannot supply current if the battery is hot. Unfortunately the battery gets extremely hot inside the cabin. Had the same problems with my black Prius in the summer. To make matters worse, the battery is air cooled so it takes a long time to cool down.

All heat related from what I can tell. This is my second summer driving the hybrid, and I’ve noticed the same during hot streaks both years.

Heat definitely could play a role. Also over time the batteries lose capacity and discharge, which is most noticeable in the first year.
