Doesn't seem like it'll stay on for long but definitely will hold over until I can get the oem ones in.

 

The inside is lined pretty good with 3M 2 way tape so 2 months & multiple car washes.
OEM would be best.

 

I'm wondering how well it will hold up in the heat. Yesterday I burned my hand on the chrome handle getting in the truck.

 

I purchased the ones on Amazon first and ended up not using..they cover the whole handle (very bulky) the eBay ones just cover the chrome section only…

 

Damnit... just ordered the Amazon ones and was thinking the same thing, it's going to make the handle even bigger.

 

what did you use to black them out?

What did you use to black out the all the trim?

Did you happen to use the peal and stick covers from Ebay or just paint?

 

Got the windows tinted. 15% all around (except the windshield which is 70%).

Sparks and other folks sell the covers. Or you could do it yourself. Lightly sand it, hit it with some primer and Krylon Fusion, then clear it.

Happen to look at the ODO at work today and caught this. Also popped the door handles on from Amazon. Happy with them except for the driver's door that still shows the chrome around the key hole.

 

There are a couple of sets that don't show the key hole. The first set I got from a friend did, and I got another set on Amazon that didn't. They are smaller and cover only the chrome. Not the black, but that's what the ones Sparks advertises shows, so I went that way.

 

Yeah ideally I want to go with the sparks color matched but for 12 bucks I figured I'd try these.

 

Believe me, I know how you feel. I didn't go the Sparks way. Too much cash I could use for other stuff. I painted the Amazon ones myself. Mine had the indent for the key hole, and although it's not a professional job, I thought they turned out pretty nice.

You are much braver then me. I've tried going that route on my 4runner. Ended up painting everything matte black instead because I couldn't get the gloss right.

 

Well, for the price, I figured I'd give it a try. Door handles did come out good, but... I put them on about an hour before we headed to the airport, where I parked the car outside in the FL sun for 5 days. The passenger side was exposed to the sun much more than the driver's side, and I do see a hint of loss of gloss. I did let them sit for a couple of days before installing them, and maybe it's just my imagination running wild, but time will tell. I did use the highly rated SprayMax 2K clear on them. Did two coats.

I paid about $40 for the handles, and about $40 for the paint (if you divide the paint costs between the handles and rear bumper panels), so if they don't work out, I can always do it again, or wrap them. ColorXLabs supposedly has some good wrap that works well.

 

Have yall come across any paint matched door handle covers (silver is what I'm looking for)? I've seen the ones on sparks, but it's an entire door handle assembly. I'm really just looking for a cover/overlay to match the truck. I have not been able to find anything and may have to just replace the entire assembly if I want paint matched but I figured id ask on here first before spending the money.
