I just finished changing oil and all of a sudden the truck will not go in gear. The shifter moves freely

Did you accidentally drain the transmission instead of the oil? It's happened before.

This is a scenario we’ve seen a few times. Don’t drive the truck. Check your oil level. Check your transmission fluid level. If you drained the transmission pan by mistake, the fluid looks more red and should only be about 4qts out. Then you would have refilled the engine with another 8qts of oil, meaning it now has 16qts in it! Fix is to get some more engine oil and trans fluid. Drain the 16qts (fumoto would be clutch here!) and then add new engine oil. Follow the fluid add procedure for the trans. It will take around 4qts, get the trans up to temp (105-115°) and pull the check plug. If no fluid comes out, add some. If fluid comes out, let it until it’s barely a trickle and replace the plug.
