I bought my Tundra in Dec 2022 and still can't get the OEM dash cam to work. Even the dealer can't figure it out, and they said they've seen tons of issues with the toyota dashcam. I wish they would have told me earlier...........I could have deleted that option!!!

    Lots of stuff!
We got our Tundra in October and the dash cam they put in refused to connect to my phone. I eventually pulled it and put a Blackview in in the spring. I might still use the other camera in a different vehicle without Carplay.

I had the same issue, used the QR code to get the app. I played with it for a couple weeks and decided to reinstall the cam app on my phone before heading to the dealer. Turns out the QR code was for the wrong Toyota Cam app. Connected first try, no issues since. It doesn't disconnect from Android Auto when I connect to the camera.

Found a rattle that was driving me crazy. The harness up in the headliner barely has any glue attaching the wiring harness to the board. The tapping was getting on my nerves...I already fixed a part of it above the front passenger too.

Added some black home window weather stripping (about $5) in the console trays to stop things from making noise and sliding around. Works very well. IMG_4965.jpg

Swapped stock speakers for component system speakers and added compact subwoofer under passenger seat. My truck is SR5 TRD OR non-JBL. Selected off the shelf package (set); 6"x9" mid-bass in front doors w 2 3/4" mid-highs in windshield dash, and large 7" woofers w separate 1" silk dome tweeters for rear doors. Also added 8" powered sub under the passenger seat that dropped in nicely in the valley there. I ended up going with the Infinity compact sub over the Kicker hideaway, both the installer and i felt the Infinity fit better, tucked away nicely under the seat. Found a good location for subwoofer volume knob that works well for me. Professionally installed, they charged only three (3.5) hours labor/cost, which i thought was outstanding; plus they added Soundskin and sound Cushion around the perimeter of the cones for cost of materials only which was awesome. Two year warranty. Zero rattle. Turned out well. Nice sound improvement that fit my budget.

I'm sure this varies considerably shop to shop, but what does something like that cost? I've always installed everything myself, but time is a commodity I am lacking these days.

It's usually 30-50 an hour. My old shop would be 1.5 hours a door unless it was something custom and then 2-3 hours for amp install and setup. I'd probably charge 400 labor for the Tundra to do what he listed and that's probably on the low end.

@DMackler Agree, probably varies from shop to shop. Installation came in at 340 labor, 30 for 10 GA wiring kit for sub, and 70 in supplies, skins etc. So a little over 400 for installation itself, exactly correct @TucsonTundra1794. The installer said it was a breeze.

Nice. Thankfully you must not live in the part of Vermont that is having all those weather issues if you had time to do that.

It wasn't too bad, the handle area is tedious but I used a heat gun which really helped getting into the grooves
Thankfully I live on the side of a mountain away from any major running water so it's not bad at my house, but nearby cities got hit pretty bad. It's been raining for what seems like weeks here

Hey Brad. That is how I crossed over from the hater side. I rented my wife one in Bentonville, Arkansas. She convinced me to try it, and I was sold on the first ride. I could get to areas I could not on my analog bike. It increased my enjoyment exponentially. I still have the analog and ride it some and keep it as a spare. The wife and I each have an emtb now. Most of our vacations are to locations we can ride. Utah is on the bucket list!

Got a couple of new things. Front gloss black emblem to match the platinum. Bakflip MX4 cover, love it so far.

Nitto Recon Gripplers in 275 65 r20. Could have gone larger, but I am about 3/4 inch from hitting the bottom of my garage door.

Love the write up. Did you install a amp for the new door speakers or just install with factory radio?

blacked out front end/grill surround—went w the trd sport/off-road grill. dealership installed. only hiccup is that instead of making a small, $2 dollar piece of plastic that connects the front camera to all the variety of trim level grills, toyota puts specific camera mounts that fit in each different grill so had to be ordered and installed on top of the labor. it’s a ~$350 camera for those wondering and if anyone wants a 3 week old one that came w my platinum, i gotchu.

Why Toyota doesn’t offer a sport package on any trim to get rid of the unwanted chrome is beyond me. Not like it can’t be done at the factory. On the plus side the limited trim, for 2024, is a nightshade now in Canada at least and I have one on order

awesome, thank you. Went with speakers to factory headunit, and powered subwoofer, feed to door/dash speakers not amplified. Chatted with the installer re amp to speakers, he recommended see how it sounds first while assuring we can add later if needed. Turns out that was good advice. May not need in my case. Overall nice upgrade, sound vastly improved in my truck for my taste.
