Maybe I missed it but I didn't see mention of turning off the nannies. I've seen someone burn up a transmission on the beach in Baja 'cause he didn't know to turn the nannies off.

4Lo kills most of them. If you're staying under 20MPH you want Lo anyway to keep trans temps down.

    In 4wd High:
Normal (no buttons pressed, no dash lights on) = Truck will detect wheel spin and retard engine timing along with application of the brakes to the spinning wheel as needed. Vehicle Stability Control is on. ATRAC is on. Auto LSD is off (does not function in 4wd.)
    In 4wd Low:
Normal (no buttons pressed, "VSC OFF" light on) = Truck will detect wheel spin and retard engine timing along with application of the brakes to the spinning wheel as needed. Vehicle Stability Control is off by default. ATRAC is on. Auto LSD is off (does not function in 4wd.)

99% of my beach driving is in 4HI. The ATRAC works great. Never a problem with overheating and no interference from VSC.

I don’t think so but if you have the time look up Eric Conner’s LSX454 Tundra it was done by Morgan Clarke Designs you could find some info on it.

No matter where I have ever been on the OBX, I have beem required to drive through at least some very lose sand. In a 2019 Tacoma TRD Off-Road I did not deflate tires, but had some problems with traction. Now that truck is gone and a month I'll be in a 2023 Tundra TRD Off-Road. I don't think I'll even risk it. Deflation it shall be. As far as reinflating every trip back and forth, that won't happen. At the end of the week, I'll pump them back up and call it done. The thing about the OBX is that you may go for miles without seeing someone in places. It depends on the season, time of day and weather. It isn't the place you want to get stuck, especially if the tide is coming in. There are places that will leave you trapped if you drive out at low tide and try to drive out at high tide. Again, its a bad scenario if that happens. My stepfather and some of his idiot friends got stuck 40 years or so ago and watched helplessly as the water wound up completely submerging their truck. I stress that they were young and stupid, emphasis on stupid. When you go out, make sure to be aware of the time that the tide change is. In most places, its no big deal, but in others it's goodbye truck.

Stock, with a few cosmetic mods.
All great info here, follow it and you won’t get stuck. I’ve been fishing Long Island beach's for decades never getting stuck, and I do air down substantially, prob to around 15lbs. or so. One thing I also do, which maybe I missed mentioned here, is after finding my parking spot, let the truck idle for a few minutes to help cool the tranny. Good luck, you’ll be fine.

Looking to take the Tundra out to the dunes up in Michigan on my next trip to visit a buddy of mine (he can be forgiven for being a Jeep guy) and I just came across this tread whilst searching for information on Tire Deflators and wanted to see the thoughts of all you "experts". A buddy has been using Boulder Tools Pro Tire Deflator Kit. I've been looking at various kits ranging in price from around $30 to over $100 with a wide range of reviews on all the ones I've looked at. Just wondering what you all think.

This is the best I've found. A friend has the automatic ones and they're slow. I also bought this one for my daughter when she got her 4runner.
