Let's see the crewmax with tool box in bed. Need ideas whether inside storage under back seat or a tool box in bed

Trail Edition boxes are working great for me. Some folks have said they leak. Mine don't leak, but I don't pressure wash the truck either, not sure if they do. My next projects are under seat, raised bed floor with storage under, and two 5' over the bed rail boxes as pictured here Screenshot_20230708-094736.png

Yes and no, I have the Toyota OEM Trail Edition boxes that came with the truck that are over the wheel wells. Special custom molded for the Tundra crewmax. The pictured boxes are both in my garage and will eventually get installed. My plan is to have the boxes form bedside walls and then I will fabricate front and rear gates with windows and run a framework around the upper perimeter and install a soft topper up there. Basically I want a large cargo area, lots of storage, and a dry and mostly bug free place to overnight once in awhile. I want to live out of the truck and my travel trailer with the option to park the trailer and venture out sometimes and just overnight in the truck only for a few days without any gear storage issues.

I’m a huge fan of Weatherguard products. I’ve had two over the years and they are outstanding pieces of craftsmanship. Mine worked in any weather; never had any issues.

I ended up selling this system last year. It was amazing for storage, but I didn’t like the look and needed a tonneau so I could lock gear in the bed while camping.

What's missing? Chest, ammo cans, storage tote, tailgate box, commercial service topper. Someone has got to have something really cool. Kinda makes me want to design a roof rack with two giant, but shallow drawers at the bottom similar to the decked system.

I second the Decked system. It’s not for everyone since you do lose bed depth, but it helps me organize, weatherproof (although I have tonneau/soft topper combo) and secure my stuff. I found a used one on CL for $300.

Decked also has a toolbox that seems to get good reviews.

    Not enough....
I go back and forth from having a toolbox and my tri-fold tonneau cover. I prefer to have the whole bed covered, but when I am towing I tend to throw the tool box in for extra tool storage. Normally I just have my basic tools and straps strewn about the rear floor in the cabin. I think some basic under seat storage is next on the list. I don't often use the toolbox, but it come in and out easy, and it is very nice to have sometimes even with the extra short bed.

These aren't be best pictures, but the best I could come up with. I have the TSC box with the metal bracket around the top. Honestly it's an okay box, and I got a good clearance deal on it, but I don't love it. It's decent enough, but the latches needed some adjustment out of the box to latch properly, and I doubt it would last as long as better brands if I had it loaded down heavy and used it every single day.

Gang, why not remove back seat altogether? I put mine in the shed. Dog loves to sit on it(me too) and I have super maximum room in the back seat area for all sorts of tool boxes and oversize tools!

Since you have toy sized crew max 4foot bed, why not keep it empty as much as possible to stow oversize things in there?

Well if he's anything like me, he might have a car seat or two back there :rofl:That's really the reason I bought a Crewmax in the first place. I miss having a larger bed, but the interior space even with tons of shit inside makes up for it.

A good solution if I need the bed for hauling and don't/ can't take my trailer.

Definitely quite nice! Hope he keeps a live rattlesnake or three in at least one box.
