i bought a pair of spyder headlights with the led “tube” daytime running lights..not impressed. Theyre bright enough at night but during the day the DRL tube looks weak and cheap. Whats everyone’s experience with getting some headlights with decent led DRLs? A brand with similar quality as the 2018 OEMs? Thanks in advance for any tips!

I just bought a pair for my 2nd Gen from form lighting. Not sure if they actually manufacture their own or resell others.

But brands like Spyder and ANSI (I think) have always seemed cheap to me. To get a good quality and bright DRL’s I’d look at manufacturers like Morimoto and Alpharex. Not sure what they have for the 2.5 Gen, but you’re looking at 1k+ for those.

Why not just buy the Tundra Pro leds? Buy when on sale and with the iHacker harness you are looking at a total cost of ~600 and they look good and not cheap.

Jumping in on this cause I see you have a '14, I too once had a '14, I got the TRD Pro headlights from headlight revolution, and the HL are OEM and they also provided the harness as well, also their site provides a video instruction, they had a sale at the time when I bought from them, honestly can't say what I paid for them, I was happy with them

Alpha rex have been working well for me with a great look. Cheaper than the OEM swap for the budget conscious. Zero issues so far.

For headlights there is nothing better than OEM. From a safety perspective its worth it. I'd go cheap somewhere else in life and splurge on this. Many many threads about OEM (for headlights only) being the best option by a fairly large margin.

The OEM LED lights have been on sale this past week for 20% off through select Toyota dealership parts departments. Which puts them in the approx. $250/each range. With (again at select dealerships) free shipping.

OEM isn't even expensive compared to Morimoto. You can buy 2 sets of OEM vs Morimoto. The MM are nice with the multi projectors but their quality is lacking IMO. I original was going to buy MM but when they released their prices for them I said no way. Not worth the price. Not to mention I emailed them asking if yellowing of the lens was covered and crickets. So I went OEM and did DD fogs. What a difference it was going from halogen to LED.

If you never bought them, how can you say the quality is lacking? Lol

He probably, well, you know, is a member on some internet thing for Toyota Tundra trucks. Oh. And passed the 9th grade class entitled: reading for comprehension. People are weird like that.

Ah got it. So he, like, saw a few anecdotes and uhm… formed a definitive opinion on something he’s never seen, held, or used.

Damn I wish I would have known it was that easy!! :eye roll: Instead I personally bought them and have been using them for two months. I guess I’m just an idiot who should have put my “9th grade reading comprehension” through it’s paces instead…..

To be clear I’m very happy with my morimotos, and yes I’ve had OEM LED on a ‘21 truck

I’m further editing to say I’ve never actually seen any complaints about the morimotos on here besides people bitching at their price point. Most issues are typically resolved, albeit requiring a deposit when the lights are returned etc. So your point about crowdsourcing an opinion on the quality barely stands as it is. No need to try and paint me as a moron when I suggest that people should try the product before just saying “they’re not quality”

LOL. I knew if I read about further down I would see why you wrote this. I guess I must have hit a never with my opinion, you know the one everyone has. I have had plenty of MM stuff and yes, compared to OEM their quality is lacking. I will say it’s way better than other Chinese crap but not near OEM quality.

OEM Sport or Pro are great and problem free, everything works as they should. Thanks to an iHacker harness

At least my writing is better than your 4th grade writing. Please re-read what you wrote and fix your errors before you judge others. LOL.
