I am looking at replacing the steering rack on my truck. Discovered a leak while replacing what I thought was a bad inner tie rod end. Turns out the slop is in the rack itself. I already have a new rack ordered (not rebuilt) and I am working on getting excited about replacing it lol. My question is about the fluid. The manual specs Dextron II or III (whichever is cheapest I guess), but I have no clue how much to buy and have ready. I know a couple quarts will cover reservoir and pump drain and fill, but how much does the rack itself take?

This is the correct fluid. https://www.tundras.com/threads/oem-power-steering-fluid.108836/#post-2822608 the whole system only takes 2qts but I'd get 3 just incase.

How many miles on the truck? Don't seem like a 18 should be needing a new rack already.

    175,000

Just had a timing job and water pump done due to a failed tensioner. I guess this is the average mileage you have to put a little into it to go another 175,000 lol

Yeah that's a few more miles than I expected. Guess you drive the beast pretty regularly. Nothing wrong with a few repairs at that mileage and age combined. Good luck with the repairs!
