If you have a key start, aftermarket remote starts will stay on. If you have push button, there is currently no way around it shutting off, even by adding an aftermarket remote start.

Well crud. It has got to be one of the worst design flaws I have ever seen.

Toyotas been that way for years. Our 2014 Sequoia is the same way. Another nanny feature that I hate.

Smartcap EVO shell, Rail system, bed cover, ceramic tint including windshield, tinted headlights and tail lights, full time gps alarm system with dash camera front and rear, bull nose for front, debating rear bumper, waiting on long gun locker for under rear seat with seat rail mods to sit flush and not raise back seat, Pedal Commander ordered as well as fender flares and tinted film for front logo and led conversion lights for all interior lights
my remote start via Drone actually turns off my Tundra after 15 minutes, the only thing i've noticed as an issue is that if the headlights are on automatic that sometimes they won't turn off once the engine turns off.

As stated- you get an aftermarket alarm/Remote start kit. I have a Compustar system and it stays running when you open the door, but turns off when you touch the brakes.

I'm trying to think of an upside to changing it? Whether you get aftermarket or keep OEM you still have to turn the car back on. Or is it just annoying that you can't hop in and enjoy the AC for a minute before you have to turn the truck off and on again?

“H” code key for my ‘18 Platinum. Had a Viper remote start added about 4 years ago and it has never shut off when unlocking or opening the door.

I do not have a separate remote. Simply click the lock button three times and you’re off to the races.

If you touch the brakes prior to inserting the key and turning it to “Run”, the engine will stop.

It will time out and shut off if you do not unlock the doors and put the key in within 10 minutes.

It will not remote start if the hood is open.

You can shut the engine off remotely if you decide to not go by using the same Lock (x3) command.

I’ve had exactly zero issues with it for well over 100,000 miles.

Put your key in the ignition in the On position before you press the brake pedal

For Toyota vehicles it depends on what ignition system you have.

Push-Button start = No, will shut down once you open the door even with after market system. Will require you to restart the engine.

Keyed Ignition = Yes, you can remote start, open the door, insert key and drive away.

In the heat like we have currently, remote starting my truck with the Platinum AC it will start the AC where it was set at when the truck was turned off. I have a 2018 and am NOT a fan of a push button start so having the ability to get in my truck and take off without having to restart it is a blessing in these temps
