Hey folks, new to the forum, have tried searching but not been able to find any info for my question.

I currently have a 2015 tacoma, planning to upgrade to a tundra for the next truck. Primary reasons are for more space (we've recently introduced a tiny-human to the family) and better towing (we have a ~5k lbs travel trailer).

I've found lots of information re: MPG, towing, acceleration, etc comparing the hybrid/ICE.

We have a limited hybrid Rav4, and I really enjoy the radar cruise control function. Never having driven any vehicle with radar cruise that ISNT a hybrid I'm curious how the two compare.

With the hybrid Rav4 on cruise while coasting down a steep hill, the car goes into regen to try and keep the speeds close to the cruise control setting. My tacoma will engine-brake down hill but that usually doesnt accomplish much, certainly nothing close tot he hybrid Rav.

Similar if you pull up behind a slower moving vehicle, the Rav goes into regen to slow down and match the speed of the car in-front.

I know the Tundra hybrid system doesn't function at all the same way as the Rav4, but does it perform in the same way? regen down-hills when on cruise? and slow-down while on radar-cruise?

For the ICE does it do this also? using engine braking and/or wheel brakes to accomplish this? or does it just coast/speed up down the hill like my taco does?

    Thanks in advance!

My understanding and using the instruments on the toyota tundra hybrid is that it winds up off the line with ev and uses it below 35 mph after stop then goes to the ICE as speeds increase thus very amazing torque and low fuel consumption and shows and can hear the regen system if you brake gently but if you brake hard it overrides the system and applies the hydraulic brakes . The display shows where power is directed.
