My biological father died in a house fire a month ago and I am the sole heir and executor of his estate.

I have been running ragged trying to take care of all the bills and expenses, as well as salvage what could be salvaged.

    He had two vehicles; a 2005 Chevy Silverado 2500HD w/ 135k miles and a 2016 Toyota Rav4 LE AWD with 86k miles.

Both vehicles were filthy, ill-maintained, and needed repairs.

The Rav4 had a major mouse infestation, several scratches, due for an oil change, and the interior was gross.

Took it to a detailer and spent $500 getting it ready to sell...

The Chevy was more challenging. The Rav4 was mechanically sound, while the pickup is a Chevy...

Just spent over $600 today getting all new brakes and the oil changed. Still needs a tie rod and pass front wheel bearing.

The factory wheels were so corroded that I was worried they weren't structurally sound, and the tires were the wrong size. So I spent $1700 putting new shoes on it. Plus had the interior detailed.

My stepdad LOVES selling stuff and asked to sell the Rav4 and Chevy. He thinks he can get $18K for the Rav and $12k for the pickup. Used vehicle market is crazy around here. I told him I'd give him a 2% commission for whatever he gets, lol. He would have done it for free, or maybe a 6-pack.

Got the Rav4 parked at his place with a for sale sign, and once it sells, I'll hopefully have the Chevy repairs done and it ready to sell.

Then I've got a 2006 Arctic Cat ATV and a Coleman pop-up camper to prep for sale.

Not sure of your relationship, but I am so sorry to hear about your father. I hope you are doing okay with this news and taking care of the estate.

I had no idea it would be so exhausting and time-consuming. Work gave me 3-days paid leave for bereavement, then said I had to burn up my saved vacation and sick time to take care of his 10-acre place and all of the property. Almost quit last Friday because I was just so burned out and stressed since now I have to sue the insurance company.

Not quite enough to retire on, but enough to tempt me to not put up with work BS.

I understand its a lot, but would advise against life-changing (emotional) decisions for awhile, ride it out for the time being. Peace will come.
