    Question:

Is it a good swap changing a 2020 SR5 Crewcab 2x4 with 50k miles for a 2018 Limited Crewcab 4x4 (with lift) with 100k miles?

What is the reasoning behind considering the trade?

    4x4 is appealing.

It’s in decent shape, southern truck, one owner, it had cat converters replaced a few months ago, assuming originals got pinched. Is there any concerns with replacements? Should they be OEM or are after markets ok?

These trucks don’t do well with anything but OEM from what Ive seen on here and with my husband’s 03 Tundra. They’re fickle mistresses and like to throw codes. :notsure:

    2020 being worth more.
unsure of quality of lift and maintenance done.
i feel like 4wd is only worth about 4-5k more. and same with trim package....at the most....being about 4-5k more.
50k more miles between 2 years is a decent bit more.
outside of normal warranties by a bit and close to some higher mileage maintenance items.
it's still a good truck, just opening yourself up to more potential issues.
cats swapped....need protection on those....especially being lifted
    again, all just my opinions

Out of interest, how do you like your Sequoia? Did you come from a tundra? We were looking at them too.

IMO buying a truck that is already lifted with that mileage and not knowing it's history or how it was driven is like buying a former rental car. It could be a "drive it like you stole it" scenario and would be a pass for me.

This. Not a Tundra, but my lifted F-150 by 100K had worn out ball joints and other accelerated wear. Lifts are harder on vehicles, especially if not done correctly. Personally would never buy a lifted truck for that reason.

Why would you trade a 50K truck for a 100K truck? How often do you really need 4x4?

I like it and do miss my truck(s). I had a 2011 that I leveled then a 2017 that I lifted. Enjoyed them both and was sad (still am) that the latest 2017 blue tundra is gone.
We got a sequoia cuz my wife and I have something for each other that we both enjoy a lot which created a 4th child (with now a 5th on the way). The tundra can't handle more than 3 kids across the back, so traded in the 2017 for the sequoia.
I enjoy the ride a lot. Prob helps going to IRS, PRO shocks, and not being lifted on 35 inch 10 ply tires.:notsure::D
I'm happy with the vehicle. I do wish the rear storage was better with the 3rd row up. Will prob have to jump to the yukon xl/suburban in a few years tho.

I occasionally visit work construction sites and 4x2 can have its limits. Also looking at purchasing a boat and 4x4 would be handy to have on ramps

Yep extra kids will do it, you never loved the look of the mini van lol.
I’d love it if there was some kind of tundra with a 3rd row, that will be best of both worlds lol.

This. I passed on so many trucks before mine because they were lifted or had parts replaced for unknown reasons with unknown quality/origin. The more factory it is the better IMO.

This. I second, the 2020 is worth more, and winning8 is right, can always trade it or add a transmission cooler.

    None....
It really depends on what your really going to do with the truck. When I bought my 2021 SR5 2WD. Everyone at work said they wouldn't drive a 2wd truck. My thinking is when I bought my 2021 it was end of November and the new style of trucks was out. I could not find a new 4x4. So I paid 40kfor my 2021 sr5 2wd. I test drove some used 4x4 same options except 4x4 they had around 60k miles on them and cost 8k more. So I saved well over 10k buying a new 2wd. I told the haters every time I get stuck I will pay them 100 bucks to pull me out. In 20 months I have got stuck one time. So I still to thi s day have saved $9,900. So at this rate it will take 165 years for the 4x4 to become financially worth it. Honestly if you add in the extra maintenance and repairs and lower mpg it will never save money.

Not an even swap, I would say a swap plus 10K at least!
