My 2023 Platinum (non-hybrid) does it in all 3 modes. It's bad enough that it almost caused an accidents a few times trying to get out into traffic, both from a stop and a slow coast. According to the TB, my VIN shouldn't be affected. I took it to the dealer and they verified that it already had the update specified in the TB from the factory, then went on a road test with me to verify the issue. They told me all I can do is wait to see if Toyota comes out with another update. I'm thinking about trying a Throttle Commander or Roar Pedal.

Many many YT vids of this same issue. Some saying 3 to 4 sec delay. Like the fly-by-wire throttle system or injectors just aren’t picking up immediately. I’d think they’ll eventually come up with a simple software tweak for this. Had same sort of issue with first year 3rd Gen Tacoma (2016) Was finally fixed in software.

Someone else posted that they think it's more related to the transmission not dropping down to first gear than the throttle response. From my experience the delay is most noticeable during a rolling stop / slowdown, such as if I'm try to make a left hand turn across traffic. It is very similar to if you tried to start from a stop on a manual in 2nd gear. Not saying that it's the cause or reason, but it makes sense. Even at higher speeds, the Tundra seems very conservative with the downshifting.

Would be nice to have a concrete answer or solution, which hopefully will be forthcoming. For the time being I have just taken it into consideration and drive accordingly. It's one of my two complaints about this truck, everything else is great.

I don't have huge throttle lag, but sometimes it could be 0.5-1 second.

I tried to switch the transmission shifter to manual, and when it's in the 1st speed, seems that there's no lag.

Could you guys try the manual shifter and see if the throttle lag will still be there or not?
