    Hello everyone,

I am thinking about getting my new Tundra ceramic coated. I had a Nissan Titan for 12 years previous to this truck and all the clear coat was peeling off the roof and hood. I never waxed it and honestly didn't treat the paint very well by using touch-full carwashes.

I tend to keep trucks for a long time, so I would like to treat this truck better and don't have the patience or time for waxing it.

Are there any negatives to getting a ceramic coating applied by one of the professional shops?

With all the gizmos and gadgetry on these trucks ( I have a TRD Pro) is there anything that should be avoided?

Also, can anyone recommend a shop in the Metairie/New Orleans area?

    Thanks in advance, Will

Can’t comment on a shop, but for a ceramic be sure it’s a good one and you maintain it for longevity

Took mine in today to get paint correction and ceramic coating. If you're ocd and want that extra protection go for it.

    Negatives…

Price (for a real professional), unfortunately many detailers claim them know what they are doing but simply don’t.

My still looks amazing truck after 3 years with minimal washing and maintenance. Everything wipes off.

Personally, the price of admission is worth it BUT it would NOT be worth it if I wasn’t going to keep it for a long time.

Depends on the ceramic and the prep work. If you didn't care for your other vehicle ceramic wont save this one from neglect. PPF is probably better suited to your use case.

Negatives is it can be expensive particularly with good prep work.

    There isn't really any negatives.

There's a big difference in price for just washing the truck and applying the ceramic coating. Or doing the full paint correction process - wash, Clay, polish paint to get rid of swirls and scratches, ceramic prep, ceramic coating application.

Keep in mind, if not washed and not applying the Maintenance coating, the top ceramic coat will also get dirty after about a year or two, and will have slightly yellow-ish tint to it so it'll need to be also polished off with compound to make paint clean and ceramic re applied.

If you use brush car wash, it'll reduce ceramic longevity to a year or two.

But in general it will help to protect your clear coat, so no downsides.

I also use Adams ceramic shampoo and added the boost this month as it’s been on the vehicle for the vehicle for probably close to a year. Still beads decent.
I also wash it usually every other weekend, but it doesn’t see a whole lot of road time.
