For those of you with superchargers... what weight oil do you run? Does Toyota or Magnusson/Harrop/Whipple recommend a different weight oil when adding a supercharger?

Let's just assume that 0w20 is/has been sufficient for the majority of 5.7 needs and avoid the endless discussion about a different weight ought to be used. I see all four seasons including a -34F day a few months ago. Once you added forced induction, did the manual recommend a heavier weight oil by, say 10 points? And, for fear of opening up the discussion to heated debate, superchargers add heat to the entire system so is it 'generally' recommended to run a thicker oil with a supercharger?

To further add to the discussion and muddy the waters, unless I am mistaken, Toyota still recommends 0w20 for the 3.5TT in the Gen 3 tundra. And one thought process says that the engine tolerances (somebody is gonna try to nail jello to the wall for not using clearances or tolerances correctly there...) don't really change that much when using a mild forced induction system in similar operating circumstances to a stock vehicle (i.e. - not using the vehicle for sand drags, Baja racing, burn out boxes, etc...).

What weight are you guys running in your super charged tundras?

Whatever this forum told me to do
    I used Kirkland 0w-20 for the 1st 50k miles with the S/C

    I'm @ 75k miles...1st 25k miles was stock.

I JUST switched to Kirkland 5w-30.

I ran a couple Blackstone test on the 0w-20. Kirklands held up damn good. 5000 mile interval...still had a 5.0 TBN..no wear metals - no fuel in oil.

I moved to 5w-30 for no particular reason other than you guys said it makes the truck run quieter....it kinda does.

the S/C has not added any amount of heat that is registering on my scanguage 3. you are rarely in boost. these S/C's bypass boost when not needed.

I still run 0w-20 in our other toyotas

0W-20 I just change it every 3K. Oil is cheap, engines are not.

0w-20, 5k intervals here. Temperatures from 0F - 120F. Engine is nearing 300k and been boosted for the last 80k and seems just as happy as when it was stock.

0w20 amsoil signature, magnuson blower on the last 10k have 21k on it now I monitor absolutely everything with a series of gauges, added trans cooler, and pretty mush everything else is stock 5k intervals and in the northeast we have every different kind of weather from extremely humid like it is now and we can see 10 degrees or less sometimes in the winter, my truck seems to be happy with the way it is so I will prolly keep it at 0w20
