    Just joined.
I'm a retired Toyota paint shop engineer (Jan 2023), with many years in the pretreatment and painting of steel parts in automotive an general industry applications.
I will be writing up a couple of posts on the frame rust issues that plague the Tundras and Tacomas after a while.
Helping a neighbor fix a 2006 Tundra 4x4 AC with frame rust right now!

    Best Regards
    Robert Miller

    Welcome to the site.

    Question for you…

I painted the frame welds on my 2023 truck with por-15, and used blaster surface shield on the bolts.

I’ve been thinking of spraying the inside of the frame with either primer, paint or por-15. Would this be a waste of time and/or create more problems in the future?

    Hmm....
I would use a rust dissolver, one that leaves a phosphate coating on the bare steel. Then I would use a toothpick and apply a spot of a zinc rich primer (use a spray can to put some on a porcelain saucer, then dip). After that cures, use touchup paint.
Since you have rust spots, you are already through the E-coat, and the zinc phosphate coating on the steel is gone. So, for best results, use the above method.

POR 15 is good stuff. Use a wire brush to get as much of the loose rust off as possible. I would actually use a brush, its messy, but it really lets you work it in.

Would you recommend the same zinc-rich primer and then the Toyota touch-up pen for paint chips on the front of our trucks? I don't have rust spots, but man, I get hammered by debris kicked up on the highways around here.

    Welcome to the forum!

All colors are picked by the styling group. Each model usually gets 2 or 3 new colors every year, and an equal number are retired. The maximum number of colors per model, per year is normally 8 to 10. This is because the paint shops only have so many paint circulation systems, and the robots are matched in their capacity.
As for why a color was retired? Usually low sales numbers.
