Driving down the rd in the blinding rain the other day while running android auto and on a call through the Bluetooth. All of a sudden the display went black and started to reboot. It proceeded to reboot over and over for the rest of the drive. After stopping and restarting the truck everything appeared to be working again for about the next 10 mins and then crashed again. Now 2 days later the screen doesn't turn on when starting the truck (black screen). The odd part is that after about 5 minutes if I hit the "view" but the camera pops up and then goes back to black. So it appears the screen itself still works but no other features are accessible. I can't find anything about people with similar issues other than last generations tundra.

After they install it, before you drive away ensure they relink the H/U to your VIN and user profile. See the thread linked above re the entire saga. Even better, let them know the instructions prior. My dealership had no idea

Mine went out at 300 miles. Took two days to get a new one. Make sure they relink your vin or it will not work properly. I had to take mine in again because the tech did not complete the install correctly.

Toyota is telling me they put refurbished head units in trucks when they fail. Can either of you confirm if you got a new unit or refurb? I'm not personally willing to accept a refurbished unit on a brand new truck.

I saw the box mine came in, quite the elaborate affair. Lots of official Toyota branding and instructions that my core had to be returned. No indication that mine was a refurbished unit. That said: seeing as my core was returned, ostensibly they are refurbishing those cores and getting them back in trucks. I can say that my replaced unit is working flawlessly since the swap.

While I agree with you as far a refurb unit, think of it this way. If the new unit is also faulty then it’s back to square one. I would hate more of the fact that a tech is going in to replace the unit. Nothing worse that a new vehicle being taken apart.

Not sure if mine was new or refurbished. However, I asked the parts dept about it and was told the unit costs $6900 retail. I then said I'll trade the truck in before the warranty is up.
