Hit a giant kamikaze doe yesterday at about 60 mph. The bumper and and grill is smashed to pieces along with the radiator. Fender flare bumper wrapped around the side and caused major scratches along the door. And the underside of the mirror is scratched. No repair cost yet but I imagine it's going to be far more than it should be. Trucks should have metal bumpers rather than cheap plastic with expensive sensors and cameras. I'm sure rates will go up for Tundra owners once the insurance agencies crunch the numbers on repair costs.

Sucks that it happened. Not much protection out front anymore. Take some pics.

Sorry to hear about this. I agree - a bumper should be able to absorb significant impact without completely sacrificing itself.

Sorry for your bad luck! Torn up radiator and airbags didn't blow???? Guess it doesn't take much to get that far into the plastic crap nowadays. Good luck with the repairs.

This sucks but glad you’re ok. I annihilated a deer in my old Nissan Titan. EVERYTHING BROKE on that truck (literally) throughout the course of its life EXCEPT that bumper that smoked the deer. Couldn’t even tell but for a nickel sized dent in the chrome

Hope you at least got to keep the deer. I still have part of one in the freezer from a collision last fall. "Venison" strikes are fairly common here in Atlantic Canada.

I think I need to invest in a steel front bumper. This is the second post I’ve read today about deers being hit. I see them frequently when heading to and from work.

Ranch Hand is SOLID. Their rear bumper is too. I've owned a couple Ranch Hand products.

I noticed the midnight bumper is 7ga Aluminum instead of steel. You think it’s still gonna be robust enough?

Don't know much about that one. I'd give Ranch Hand a call.

And this is why our insurance prices continue to rise!!!
Supply chain, availability problems, deer problems!!, the price of vehicles!!, and the cost of parts are all contributing factors to rising cost of insurance! Folks this is not going to get any better any time soon!

Brake may have been applied automatically but I was on the brake too until I realized I couldn't avoid it, then I hit the gas to ensure I had momentum to stay straight. It jumped out of cover into my lane about 40 ft. from me.

Screenshot_20230624-153037.png Might want to try the stick on deer whistle noise maker devices. I've been using them for decades with really impressive results. I think the key is to keep the bugs cleared from the openings and space them correctly. I think I paid less than ten bucks for two sets last time around.
