Dealer #1 said 3.2 quarts for a drain and fill

Dealer #2 said about 8 quarts for a drain and fill

Dealer #3 said 12 quarts for a drain and fill.

These are dealers and each time I specifically said "drain and fill"

    Who's right???

Drain and fill is about 3.2 quarts, if you're just draining the pan. If you're doing the entire system, it's about 12 quarts and can drain and fill every 2 to 3,000 miles to flush out the entire system out.

Whatever this forum told me to do
    Dealer #1.

    the other 2 are dishonest.

I've done it few times....always a smidge less than 4 qts.

Dealer #1 understood your request and gave you relatively accurate info. Dealer #2 assumed you would drain the transmission, not flush it and somehow get every drop except for the torque converter. Dealer #3 gave you the capacity of the transmission as if you would do a complete exchange.

Just had really good luck with Treasure Coast Toyota in Stuart, FL getting a color match grille, ordered and delievered to the west coast in 2 days (I went with the honeycomb over the Pro though). Maybe give them a call and see what they can do?

None of them. Just replace what you drain.

I have done this but once I realized how easy it is to do the correct method to check the fluid level it makes a lot more sense to do it that way. Pump in 4 quarts and then do the check and you know you're at the correct level with out any guess work or measuring.

Whatever this forum told me to do
    this.

I made the mistake of saying "just wait till the pan is warm" and then check it. It's worked for decades for me...However, the internet forum Gods want process perfection.

I am presently quite tortured over the urge to use tranny fluid references & simultaneously mentioning malted beverages. I'm sure y'all are simpatico.

Lol. It’s enough to know that the mere mention of tranny fluid will henceforth evoke a knowing chuckle. Funny how language evolves.
