I think all the toxic waste from the PepCon explosion and from Timet releasing chlorine into the environment; shit would end up floating around the air and buried in the dirt waiting to be stirred up, trumped any tree that could grow out there.... I lived a bit elevated from the valley at the south east end toward Boulder City, so every time they'd break ground on a new housing or commercial project out there we'd end up w/upper respiratory infections and crap.

    https://youtu.be/_KuGizBjDXo

"(TIMET) for an accidental chlorine release at its plant in Henderson in March 2012. A statement by the EPA said TIMET failed to immediately notify authorities of the chlorine release, which it said continued unabated for several hours and drew odor complaints from residents up to 7 miles away.."

The wife and I both developed asthma as adults living in a desert climate; which shouldn't happen... hhhhmmmmmm

Happy Saturday! Those who started their weekends early and those still sleeping in, what does your time off hold in store? I'm in a bunker for 11 more hours. Let me live vicariously. :)

I kept an old boat trailer and converting it to a small cargo trailer. I'll be grinding and welding this weekend. I sold my equipment trailer when I had the van and I'm not paying $3k+ for little cargo trailer.
This will cost me maybe $200 total and a few weekends.

Yesterday I booked a camping trip for the end of July so today I'm going to duck out while the kids are napping and grab a new battery for the trailer. I'm not sure what the previous owners did to the one that's on there but it's 4 years old and won't even charge any more.

Probably stop on the way home and buy 4 regular lug nuts for the truck so I can ditch the stupid locking ones that every dealer here insists on putting on.

Oooh! That's cool! I have been rolling around ideas on how to enclose my utility trailer. It'd be nice to have a place to secure the bike during the winter without having to pay for a storage unit. Are you documenting your process? Takin' pics? If not, I would suggest it. I know I'm not the only one that would love to see the project unfold.

Might have just been a low end battery. Or they never took care of it. I don't imagine Canadian winters are real friendly to a battery that just sits outside.

I should get replacement lugs as well. I don't like the locks. If I lived in Chicago, Detroit, LA, NYC, etc. I might feel differently, but in the middle of nowhere I don't need locks on my wheels. I did buy the wheel replacement package at the dealership though, so I wonder if theft would be covered? :monocle: I know that if I curb them they'll repair or replace them. I may have to scrape some curbs toward the end of the coverage for some shiny new wheel.

I only took a few pics of it so that I could stare at them during down time at work and try to figure out how to tackle it. Steel prices are outrageous right now, so I'm repurposing some square tube scrap from work and whatever I can hobble together. The only thing I'm spending money on is a new trailer lighting kit and the wood for a deck. I never think of my projects as a how-to. More of a, hey, look what I made out of some junk I had. But I will definitely take a few pics as I go.

That's understandable. Prices on everything seem to be nuts, but being able to recycle is a bonus. Even if it's not a how to, the pics of the process/journey might give me ideas on what to do with mine. If you're so inclined, a build thread on the trailer would be cool to browse. Heck, some of the super fabricator people on here might even have tips and tricks to make your project easier.

From any research I've done, the trouble is with an imbalance between quads and glutes. It looks like even slight imbalances can do the trick over time, and they're largely unnoticeable until they're noticeable. Keeping the patella too tight against the patellofemoral joint while doing non-workout things fissures and strains the cartilage under the knee cap. A lifetime of glucosamine might help. Exercises to strengthen the glutes might help. Surgery to shave off the bad parts of cartilage might help. I'm going to try those first two and see if I can avoid the third.

I’m playing catch-up on yard work today and hoping to head out for some dirt therapy in the truck tomorrow.

I have really noisy knees. Had some buckling issues as well. Patellar Tracking Disorder I think was the official diagnosis. Had pain and all kinds of stuff going on, and went to a really good orthopedic doc and had MRIs because he said everything pointed toward a meniscus tear. Well, the MRIs don't lie, and everything in my knee was structurally perfect. He was kind of shocked, but went with PT to buff up my inner thigh muscles to resist the knee cap being pulled to the outside. It was going to be PT 5 times a week for months, and with insurance that'd be a $30 hit every time. Can't afford/wasn't going to spend $600 a month on PT, so I planned on a knee brace and pain for the foreseeable future.

Told my brother who was a massage therapist at the time, and he asked if I'd let him work on me. I agreed, because I didn't have anything to lose. He worked my IT Band (forget what the IT stands for) with a trigger point massage, which hurts like hell, and pointed out posture issues I had(standing toe out, letting my foot loll around while driving). I paid super close attention to my posture to correct it, and my knees are still noisy, but I don't have knee pain and haven't had it buckle anymore either. Just stand there naturally, and if your toes point anywhere but straight forward under your shoulders, you may just need a trigger point session or two and some posture correction.

Slept in a bit today. Got a new upstairs ac unit installed yesterday so enjoyed it a bit extra today. We’ve been sleeping in our living room downstairs for a few weeks as we started hitting triple digits.

might go to Home Depot or Lowe’s later, pick out some new wall paper. Idk yet, I don’t if we’ll have enough time.

Not a fan of yard work, but I'll likely be doing more of it in the next few days. Dirt therapy you say? Fast dirt, or technical dirt? Both?

My son is an exercise physiologist, and he's been on a mission to get me the best info he can. The thing about where your feet point, bad posture, bad workout habits when I was younger, and getting sedentary now that I'm older are all working against me. Time for a new phase of life, I guess, to keep other shit like this from happening.

Triple digits... Ewwwww. My balls sweat just thinking about that. :violent:

As for wall paper; isn't it odd how it's making a comeback? It was all the rage, then people moved to painting and getting rid of wall paper, and now it's coming back around. If you do pick some up, post it up. Let us judge your interior design taste, or lack thereof. :D

I’ll end up cleaning Sonic today. Been raining non. Freaking. Stop. For probably over a month now. Very annoyed; however, if I look from a positive side I have not had an increase in our water bill from the sprinkler usage.
Tomorrow is Fathers Day. I’ll get them to do the yard (as I trim/mow 2x a week) and treat myself to a back and foot massage.

Ha! I mean my wife does use wall paper but not actually for the wall, craft stuff and random things. Going for some other house projects though. ;)

it was the original from 95 so it had a good run. We were trying to hold off replacing one more year to put a roof on our deck this but plans got swapped, happy with the decision though.
