Apple Mirroring Help

I have a JVC KW-Z1000W head unit and it allows for Apple mirror via HDMI cable. I have the cable installed on the back of the unit and I am using a HDMI/Lighting cable to attach to my phone. When I plug in the phone and select HDMI on the head unit nothing comes up but a black screen. All the info and videos I've looked up shows that it should just appear on your head unit screen once plugged in. Is there a setting in the Apple phone I need to change or allow so I can mirror my phone? Thanks in advance for the help.

That suck. I’m thinking bout getting the same radio. have you contacted jvc customer support to see why?

 

The radio is amazing!! I have gone that route yet but I should call customer support.

 

If you do, please report back. Im interested in what they say or if it an easy fix. I want that screen mirror to work if i get the radio.

I had the same problem on my Pioneer 7600. Had it installed about a week ago. I was going thru the process of elimination and found that if I disconnect CarPlay it works. I turned off Bluetooth and WiFi and the iPhone mirroring worked. I don’t need CarPlay and HDMI going at the same time so it works for me.

 

Sweet. I have the z1000w on order and scheduled to be deliver before the 31st.

 

There’s someone on youtube that commented regarding this mirroring issue also. He said he had to use the 1080p hdmi cable. NOT the 4k cable. Once he switched, his mirroring works and carplay also works at the same time. So, i would try a different hdmi cable and see.

It is confirmed. I installed this radio and it work with the 1080p full hd hdmi cable. I have the firestick hook up here. Youtube also work while screen mirroring using lightning/hdmi adapter cable.
Youtube is pulled up on Amazon firestick in photo belwo.

 

Do you know what specific hdmi cable you were using. Can it be a 1080p/5k. I’ve been trying to get mine to work and can’t figure out and use their recommended hdmi. Any help would be appreciated along with any phone settings and system settings

I have been trying to figure this out for over a year.
Are you just using fire stick and not going through phone with fire stick hooked directly to hdmi

appreciate any help as getting ready to go on a long road trip with boys and video will help in the truck

 

Yup. Tether your internet to the firestick. That way your phone is freed up. But you can also mirror it using the apple hdmi adapter also.
I've done both. Both works great.

 

THanks for your help.. Hard to believe that the Factory HDMI Cable the unit calls out that you purchase extra doesnt work. So I am goinng to try this.. HDMI Screen just pulls up black as if its not getting a input.. Tried real quick using a ROKU express set up and still same so I will try swapping out the cable. Is there any other settings in the Headunit that I need to worry about if I am just doing a roku or Firestick

 

swapped the cord and Roku works now- thanks for your help as this has been driving me crazy for a year. Shame jvc hdmi cord recommended didn’t work
