I have the 5.7 engine with 4 wheel drive…. Getting ready to swap engines… my question is, is it necessary to remove the transmission to swap out the engines?

It's not necessary to remove the transmission.

Not necessary to remove. I removed my front wheels to have more clearance as hoist was too low. Watch out for the windshield! Pretty easy to get all tyranny bolts with an array of extensions. Good luck!
