Did the full Gen2 Hewitt bypass kit today. Purpose is to prep for new headers without SAIS ports, plus to just remove/cleanup engine bay/save some weight. Install took about 2 hours due to misunderstanding the instructions on my part haha. Fit and finish is OEM quality and blends in with the wire bundles. The SAIS not activating at startup is somewhat noticeable but what I was surprised by is when you turn the engine off there is silence now. I didn’t realize how loud the pumps were after the engine was turned off. (Picture is the hardest part of the install which is finding the two valve connections behind the supercharger. Both are unplugged in this photo.)

Yes and no. You CAN turn off the SAIS system and retune for it in HPTuners. Unplug the pump and block off the SAIS ports. It's what I did on the Tacoma, removed the entire SAIS system altogether from the engine bay. Just major tuning shops will not do that for you since it's messing with the emissions system.

That kit just makes the process a lot easier

How did you even get that picture? I had to fish that fuel line through there completely blind.

    P1613 and P1614?

Had to put a phone way back there and blindly take pictures so I had an idea what I was reaching for. Unplugging those connections blind is pretty brutal as your already hunched on top of the engine, I can see why people were complaining before about this step. I’m pretty excited to remove all the SAIS stuff like the valves back there.

Does SAIS read ready with Hewitt in state smog readiness monitors? I have that in my list & Az needs it to read ready to pass.

Yes the Gen2 kit will show ready/mimic the system, whereas the Gen1 kit you will see some posts on tundras.com did not and worked alot differently. If you add the PSO Hewitt valve sensors too then you can remove all the SAIS equipment as well which is pretty neat.

so no more running rich, no more maf codes! yaay! cat codes are still there but i couldnt care less about the cats haha. another slight hiccup, she surges on idle now, in Park, Drive, Neutral. doesnt happen all the time. i say 75%. about 50-150 rpms. but when she idles well, about 850ish, its strong and solid. also random sputtering while she was starting up. happened twice. no misfire codes or anything haha. weird.

Was that their recommendation for an idle speed? Seem high. As I've recently come to understand, no misfire codes doesn't mean that there aren't misfires. I'd be interested to know if you have any warm start issues. I've been trying to sort mine out on my truck.

Got an email from Radium Engineering today about their new Catch Can design. Thought I'd share it here. I wasn't able to copy/paste the email for some reason, but was able to copy it in pieces of images so hopefully it uploads and is readable.

I saw this email too. Not sure I see the point in upgrading my set up, my catch can doesn't fill up so quickly where I need this safety mechanism.

Same here. I empty with each oil change and there is still plenty of room left for more.

New vid feom these guys. Its a 2018 with a turbo setup putting 900hp to the wheels...

    https://youtube.com/watch?v=cuqZYj7ukSc&feature=share9

@reywcms ditch the whipple, this is what you need.

I would guess with all the fuel and trans work he talks about on top the necessary internals for the engine, this is a 75k build? :spending:

But a 7.0 built motor with 18-20psi from a whipple sounds cooler to me lol

Scored a smokin deal on a dirty deeds exhaust that deletes the muffler. Actually not loud while normal drives but when on it wakes up. It was too cheap to pass up and could easily hold me over until I decide to change it.
