That says something that you kept SF even though you worked for a competing insurance company. I flat out cannot change insurance companies due to cost. Every time I look, the costs are way higher for a new policy.

That's how I got stuck with State Farm...I was with Safeco, but they kept arbitrarily raising the rates. Raised my home insurance $1k last year, with no claims filed. So I looked around and State Farm had home insurance closer to what I was originally paying. Big mistake...

I'm hoping not to have that problem in a few years. One of my coworkers just built a 600k dollar house in TN. Her yearly insurance on that house is 900.00. I was in disbelief.

I worked for USAA Bank. But had friends in insurance. I heard the most insane stories from customers and coworkers. I know no company is perfect. But for our household, why ruin a good thing (with SF). A lot of companies now use automated processes for claims and they don’t always fit the mold, especially for extraordinary circumstances. Usually kindness and finding the right escalations will yield better results. A good shop helps too.

Our repair took over 3 months, we ended up just buying a replacement and sold the repair once it was done. Ridiculous.

    And we have State Farm.

I had been dealing with Mecury Insurance for 1 year and 8 months and they told me it could be two more before they received paperwork from medicare. I was hit while walking my dog on the neighbors front lawn. The women was driving with an expired license, I'm guessing because she could not pass the vision test. Anyway the police report said she was at fault and after dealing with Mecury Insurance for 1.8 years and with the statute of limitations running out 4 months; I turned it over to a lawyer. Still awaiting settlement, the insurance companies will just try to wear you down so you say forget it! Just get an attorney and move on with your life.

Everything about this. I'd have had a lawyer retained the first day they said they weren't going to total it, because of what hassle it is to repair.

The good thing is we have had excellent service when needed with USAA. One total loss on vehicle and a not at fault accident. We had checks within days. Hearing some of these stories where people are waiting months is crazy.

Yeah, I'd dump that agent like a bad habit. That is EXACTLY what you pay the agent for, to be your liaison with the company.

$851 later and truck is back home, no repairs. They did pry the rear door open and there is damage to the rocker panel behind it. But now the door won't close completely lol

Since you're fortunate enough to have your truck back home, start taking the aftermarket parts off. If they total it, you probably won't have another chance to do it.
In my situation, Arizona state law prohibits the body shop from releasing a totaled vehicle back to the customer if there is a lien (financed) on it.
And what they want to give me for the mods is a joke. I also paid for additional aftermarket parts coverage. Now today, they tell me that only covers a repairable vehicle, not a total loss.

    I have Progressive Insurance.

Like I mentioned in a previous post, I was able to remove my rock sliders, full skids, lights, etc. But, that was a huge hassle with the insurance company, and I had to do it at the wrecking yard. So, I wasn't able to take off the suspension, UCA'S, tires, etc.

I learned that doing crazy mods probably isn't a good idea on vehicles. Mine wasn't too crazy, but I'm still losing out on a few thousand dollars. So, never put in more than you're willing to lose, I guess, haha.

I stripped it clean before it went to any shop! TRD Supercharger and all supporting mods, SOS Lowering kit w/air bags, TRD Sway Bars, TRD 22" forged wheels, 20-row Setrab Trans Cooler, TRD Pro LED headlights and fog lights. All off! The only thing I didn't swap back to stock is the TRD shift knob, and that was cause I already sold the factory one. Oh, and I left in the 450 walbro fuel pump because I just didn't feel like messing with it.

I'll probably swap back the chrome door handle because those are hard to sell. The front paint matched smart door handles are a lot more expensive than the non-smart handled ones.

Been cleaning in the M3 today. First time I've ever properly cleaned the rag top. Also used some black top stain/protector on it. Need to get a second bottle to finish the black top stain.

Ok so back to M3 projects I started two years ago lol. I looked up the order and ya, that black top stain was bought in Jun 2021. Same with this next one, removing the soft touch black from interior plastic parts and respraying with stuff that doesn't just rub off over time. Seriously, I'm using my finger to rub off all this crap! Got the center console done in 2021, now on to the arm rest. That light grey stuff is what rubs off...

Spoke with Law Firm. They estimated, based off an hourly rate, that it would cost $3500 just to engage with State Farm. And likely upwards of $5,000 total. So I need to decide if it's worth it to pursue with them at this point, or just wait until September when current shop can see me.

I find out tomorrow if I'm getting laid off in September or if we're being extended into next year. So I need to wait and see on that first.

Other option is to start calling shops outside of the Denver Metro, which I have been, but now I need to extend to shops over an hour away or further.

TV loves video & people being mistreated for things they had no hand in.

You have video of the box truck driving away after the loud noise of it hitting your truck & the insco being assholes.

Just browsed this thread - honestly so much misinformation - I wouldn’t know where to start correcting people on insurance/claims handling so I won’t start.

I will simply say this - thinking you can treat an insurance claim like your wireless service and bullshit/complain until you get what you want ain’t happening. If your using your policy - it’s a contract. Read the contract and know you get what you pay for/agree to. If you pay for actual cash value - you will get that. If you’ve got 5k+ in mods - you want stated value - not some general one size fits most policy that works fine if you have zero mods and a non specialty vehicle but sucks otherwise.

3rd party (other person’s insurance) - you have less restrictions- but still may have trouble - especially with some carriers. Writing the BBB or Department of Insurance won’t just fix your problems magically - these are large companies with legal departments- unless you have a clue about the legal process and regulations- you will get steamrolled - fast. Again - another reason to have good insurance on your side - pay for it and let them handle it. 3rd party - you are owed ACV ONLY - regardless of what you paid - regardless of what you owe. Really easy to lose a chunk when you shelled out for mods and have ACV only.

It appears you didn't really read the thread, just judged it.

He removed his mods, he was hit and run, no 3rd party.

He simply wanted the truck fixed properly or totaled in a timely fashion, months ago.
