    Too many, but not enough....
Even with a CCW, one of the absolute no no's is cannot carry on the grounds of an educational institution, unless you have written permission to.

Just the CCW is enough, technically, but the party providing the permission can require any damn thing they want in order to issue the permission. I have additional training beyond the minimum, but thats just me and a good idea in case something happens, to prove you are a competent person.

Yeah if they find out. Also ironically, that’s the main reason why mass-murderers go to schools, which is what this whole thread is about. sometimes we have to break the rules if they’re going to break that same rule.

I agree with this in principle; but in reality the negative publicity that would befall you and other "law abiding gun owners" not to mention the stigma of being uneducated or worse negligent with regards to firearm safety is not a hole very easily crawled out of. It could also negatively affect future efforts to allow CCW-security volunteers/paid citizens from doing some good and possibly preventing one of these Emm-Kay Ultra's from showing up and carrying out another tragedy.

You are putting yourself at some serious risk man. I agree with what @PermaFrostTRD said, so I don't need to rehash it.
In addition to what he said, you could be stopping a threat and be put down by LE responding. This happened in Colorado in 2021. He had already stopped the threat and was carrying the rifle and was shot and killed.

I carry in my bank (and it's legal to do so..many think it's not). Where else are you at such a high threat of being robbed?

Everyone has to make decisions for themselves. I try to error on the "follow the laws" and work within the boundaries. I personally don't want to be a felon and getting shot makes for a bad day or two.

Its gotta be hard to be a cop at a jr.high. We had 2, officer ?neddles or nettles? That everyone called needledick & officer boyshorts (dont remember his name, but he wore short shorts.)

in highschool, one of the officers was my buddies dad, so we got away with all kinds of shenanigans.

I carry wherever and no one knows that I have a hidden firearm on me. That risk is smaller than the risk of being unarmed in a dangerous situation.

So a good guy with a gun and a potential mass-murderer both ignore the “no gun” sign. Seems like that levels the playing field.

I’ll also say that with any of these school shootings, we wish someone had broken the “gun-free zone” rule and had a firearm that day to shoot back at the killer.

I dont mean to throw fuel on this fire and I will try to keep this from being political but in IL its actually going to be against the law to buy or possess body armor after January 1st 2024. If owned prior to the ban its ok but already you cant have armor and have any kind of conceal and carry (anything considered a deadly weapon) as that has been against the law since 2012.

I mean, I dont want to ban guns and I have my CCL and training but I understand why people fight against them, what sane reason is there to ban body armor?

The reason probably comes from that incident years ago where armor clad gunman at the bank mowed through a bunch of cops with only handguns. From that cops got access to military grade weaponry. I forget when it was but I am sure most of you are familiar with the reference.

Yeah, they had to go to a nearby gun shop and grab shotguns and ARs.
