Before yesterday I had never even heard of this term. My '23 Tundra's brakes have been squeaking, only in the morning for the first 3 or 4 times braking. Then the noise goes away for the rest of the day. There's no change in braking at all, just a noise. I've never had a car or truck do this.

I called the local dealership I bought the truck at, and was told brakes are under a 12k warranty, and where I'm at 10k I'm covered for some issues, but in this case, there isn't anything they can do. He confirmed the orange-tinge on the rotors and the noise first thing are a normal issue. He mentioned it could be a more-prevalent issue going forward as the EPA continues to change/regulate the materials brake pads can be made out of. Metallic/Semi-Metallic/Cermaic/Semi-Ceramic, etc.

Does anyone else have this issue or have a solution? My driveway is a 300' long hill with about a 20' elevation drop so right out of the garage, every morning is a full 15 seconds of straight brake squeaking before 7am, lol.

Everyone in moist climes will have surface rust on their rotors after sitting. Solution is to change for some aftermarket solution that has less iron in their steel or full carbon ceramic or something. Or just deal. The dealer is correct on the brake pad compounds changing over the years due to EPA. Used to love the semi-metallics on my 2000. Now they only seem to have ceramics, less bite, more squeal.

Living in Houston, the humidity capital of the world, I've experienced this many times when the humidity is close to 100%. Additionally, everytime the vehicle is washed, I know the brakes are going to sound like metal on metal, but after a few brake applications and a few miles it goes away.

Sure. I think my driveway amplifies this as well. If it was just a couple 2 second squeaks on the commute to the highway, that would be barely noticeable, but in my case it's this long screech to start my morning. I'll have to keep an eye on it to see if it continues on the dry days with no humidity as well. Thanks.

I get this every morning. Got like 28k on my truck and braking is still normal.

    Lots of stuff!
Our GTI does this every time we leave the drive way but goes away after a few stops. The brakes work well and are in good shape.

Living in New England, this is very common. I find myself needing to drive a few hundred miles to clear my rotor rust if I leave the truck sitting for even a week.
