Hoping this may help some others who have been in a similar situation.

Last year while driving my 5th wheel trailer through a busy highway, my electronic trailer brakes stopped working with this message.

Had it looked at, tech felt confident it was a short in one of the 4 wheel brakes. Cut those wires out, and said i should replace the 4 backing plates and hardware, and this should get me through the rest of the season. First hill i came to, brakes gone..

Parked it at home, ordered new backing plates and the whole 9 yards, replaced them, re wired all wiring for brakes from wheels right to harness connections.

Went to go set out on a little camping site the other weekend, sure enough, no brakes...

Started doing my own tests, discovered that when i apply the brakes inside my truck, id get 0.2V at the wiring harness where my trailer would connect.

Did a ton of research, came to the conclusion the IBC (factory brake controller) was the issue. Ordered a P3, a wiring harness and replacement front plate to house it.

Swapped it all out, did a check, was getting 6-7V at my trailer connection. Tookit out for a test drive, brakes or basically not there.

Backtracked through all the wiring, conmecting, unconnecting everything, and after far too long of testing, determined that the factory harness for the brake controller, when in certain positions, would read different voltages depending on how this flimsy little white with black strip wire was positioned.
Was able to get it into a position where it would test 12v at the rear of the truck for the trailer harness, however while re installing everything in the front it would move and shift output.

So i am confident this is the problem, and am working on how i want to replace it now that i see the outcome i want, just wanted to dhare my story since i never saw it posted anywhere after lots of searching
